How Many DL 757s Have PTVs?

How many of Delta's 757s have been refitted with PTVs (domestic, non-TWA)? I know there still are some flying domestically with the overhead monitors. Are there plans to refit those planes as well? Have those planes already been updated with leather seats, or are they waiting to do everything at once?

Also, SeatGuru says that a few 757s have only five rows of first-class seating with footrests, but no air vents. Are these planes still flying in the system? Have they/are they scheduled to be refitted, and if so, will they get air vents/a sixth row of FC seating?

Thanks!

There are 48 757s with AVOD plus LiveTV. These are the ex-Song birds. There are 17 757s with AVOD only. These are the ex-AA/TWA birds. To find out which ones, check out my site: http://www.koolaiders.com and download the fleet information file (available in both Excel 2003 and Excel 2007 versions).

The rest of the 757 fleet (66 birds) have CRT overhead monitors, made by Matsushita. There has been no official announcement of upgrading these, but I defiantly see it as a possibility in the future. Regardless, all 757s (except the Ex-AA/TWA ones) will be getting wifi by summer of next year.

There are four 757s (69xx ship numbers) with no air vents. They were originally flown by Singapore, and then by ATA before coming to DL. They have 22 first class and 156 economy class seats. I'm not sure if they will be modding them or not. Honestly, I don't see it happening.

Thanks for the info! Do the ex-Singapore/ATA birds fly certain routes, or anywhere in the system?

Other than the ex-TWA ETOPS 757s, there are currently 48 domestic DL 752s with AVOD. As for retrofitting the others with AVOD, that remains to be seen. I would expect that NW's 5600-series 752s are more likely to get AVOD than any other 752 in the fleet. The NW 753s will also likely get AVOD.

All of the DL 757s have leather seats.

Yes, these planes are still flying for DL on Hawaii routes. As for adding air vents, I would probably lean towards no. As for adding AVOD, perhaps they will be retrofitted.

Honestly, these could very well leave the fleet.

My guess is that since the incoming NW birds have no IFE at all, the 5500 series will be start being retired, the 5600 series will get the AVOD treatment and be switched to DL 757 configuration for commonality. I'm sure that some of the outstanding 66 DL 757s will yet see AVOD and others will remain as is and will be deployed to largely shorter and liesure routes.

Well, these aircraft are owned by Delta (not leased), so I am not sure if DL will retire them anytime soon.

Perhaps you are correct, DL seems less averse than others to having tremendous variability amongst fleets of the same aircraft type. If nothing else, they will likely be configured to match the rest of the 757 fleet.
