With over 5 million people expected to attend the inauguration of Barack Obama, are any airlines increasing flights to Washington Dulles International (IAD) and Washington National Airport (DCA) the week of January 20th.?
Will United Airlines put their 747s on their Chicago ORD-IAD routes as well as from their other hub cities such as San Francisco, Los Angeles and Denver?

Regardless of whether there's bigger equipment, that airport will be a c!u$+erf@*k... just imagine trying to get a taxi or get on the Washington Flyer.
I'm just thankful I'll be out of town, even though I'm a huge Obama supporter, especially since I live a block from Penn Ave.
Most gorgeous aircraft: Tu-204-300, 757-200, A330-200, 777-200LR, 787-8

Lots of airlines are adding seats to the Washington, D.C. area for the inauguration of the 44th President of the United States. Consider US Airways’ contribution. The carrier, which in an earlier incarnation was once based in D.C., is laying on more flights to all three Beltway airports: Reagan Washington National (DCA), Washington Dulles International (IAD), and Baltimore/Washington Thurgood Marshall International (BWI).
Cumulatively, look for 27 extra flights between January 17 and 18. After the inaugural, on January 20 and 21, there will be an additional 16 flights to take folks back home.

Well DL is sending the 767 to DCA. That's a nice upgrade. I think they will be doing a lot more flights into the DC area.

Quoting CastropRauxel (Reply 6): I just heard KE changing ICN-IAD to daily - you don't suppose they think Obama will attract more passengers to the region, do they...?
Although probably impossible to measure, I wonder what kind of positive impact Obama will have on traffic between ORD and IAD...good for UA that is "fo sho"!

Quoting Superfly (Reply 8): With such a huge demand for flights to IAD/DCA, they should put some 777s on those routes that week
I believe the 767 is the largest plane the FAA will allow into DCA, except in an emergency. I'd love to see on on final, though. That would be a real treat.

Any chance you'll be sending any 757-300's into DCA? I'd love to see one.

Huh? 5 Million? Exactly where do you believe 5 million people will fit?
I've heard closer to a million based on all the media thus far.

Good luck with that. All the airports are going to be a mess after it's over.
