However, in two cases, it has opened mysteries that I wonder if anyone can be of assistance in helping to clear up.
I flew LAX-STL-TPA on August 9, 1996. The first flight was TWA 104, an L1011 which left at precisely 6:30 AM as scheduled. According to the information, this was N11005. The second leg was TWA 422, which was horrifically delayed. The original departure time of 1:15PM was pushed back to 4:49 PM (which I remember all too well!).
The database says the registration of this MD80 was N945U, but I can find no reference to it here at the a.net database nor at airfleets.net - is this a valid TWA MD80 registration? Or is the database wrong in some form?
The return flight was TPA-STL-LAX on August 13, 1996. The first flight was TWA 367, a newly repainted N9402W (it was the only new-scheme TWA aircraft on the whole trip). The flight arrived at STL on time, but the connecting leg, flight 161 was very delayed.
Here's the mystery: I am absolutely positive that flight 161 was a 767, as the interior was almost brand new. I also remember the "step-up" into the cockpit as we entered (as I was flying in first class). However, the database swears this flight, which shows the 152 minute delay, was N11004, which is an L1011. I also remember that this flight was delayed incoming from Hartford/Springfield, but all incoming TWA flights to STL from BDL show as being DC-9's or MD80's.
Can anyone clarify if the database is wrong or if I am the one who is mistaken? I realize we're going back 12 years, but I was as much an enthusiast back then as I am now, so I am comfortably certain I am correct.
All assistance is appreciated!!

You may have been right that flight 161 was a 767, because the evening flight from STL-LAX - up to and including through the AA purchase, originated in London and continued to LAX.

N954U is a good TWA reg. It flys with AA today. TWA never had a N945U. N945U is not a assigned N number. Can't help you with the rest

Thanks for the info!! I will assume that it was a minor transposition of numbers on the information.
