I added these aircraft to the list all the rest of the 737s that you listed I show as retired, and I typed 337 instead of 327 so I made that change as well. Thanks for the additional information.

Thanks for the update on the active 737s. They have ditched a lot in a short amount of time and I slipped up on following the process.

Straight from UAL - not sure if you've included the Dec. additions.
New Configurations -- We expect one B767 and two B747’s in Nov, and three B767’s and three B747’s in Dec. Routes opening up in November include SFO-SYD and in December ORD-CDG and LAX-SYD. --

I've got two 763s and two 744s so far for December (the one with the asterisk are in process or due out any day now) they should be able to get one more of each done this month but I'm not sure which ships are going in yet.

Not a problem, the 737 retirement is going to continue too be fairly rapid from what I understand till the summer when it will level off around 20-30 aircraft until next fall when the remaining ships are retired. I know they kept a few more 737s around then they had originally planned in order to help with the Ted repaint.

UA has not (or had not up until the Ted repaint) been taking aircraft out of service simply to paint them as rapidly as possible instead they are painting them as they need to be painted. The last time UA changed liveries it took 6 or 7 years to repaint the entire fleet. If you count the Ted fleet into the mix UA has repainted about 50% of its fleet in a little less then 4 years.

Didnt NW and UA introduce new liverys around the same time? There are only a few NW planes, Airbus', that are floating around in old colors. Seems like NW did it quicker.

NWs was in April of 2003
UAs was in February of 2004
NW has something like 27 aircraft left in the bowling shoe livery.

I'm not sure, because I haven't seen them in a while, but I don't think 543 or 545 have winglets yet. If they do, they haven't changed the aircraft numbers yet to 5900 series.

Its possible the information I got came from multiple sources and while I tried to verify all of the wiglet info there simply are not allot of pics in all of of the databases to do it.

It's not a race....
UA repaints its aircraft when they need it, If NW does it differently then good for them, not to mention that UAs fleet is larger then NWs.
According to the koolaiders site there are 27 or so aircraft left in the bowling shoe livery.

When does UA plan to complete the entire retrofit of international aircraft?
Quoting United1 (Thread starter): UA Livery Update – Aircraft in the current blue/white colors including the 16 Ted aircraft that have been repainted into mainline colors.
What percentage of aircraft that are being retained (minus the 737's leaving the fleet) have been painted in the new livery? In what year did they introduce the new Livery? When do they plan on completing the entire fleet?

Quoting Klkla (Reply 15): When does UA plan to complete the entire retrofit of international aircraft?
The original date was going to be year end 2009 however that has slipped to sometime in 2010 due to the 777s needing to be retrofitted with new Y class seats to accommodate the new PTVs. The 763/744 fleet will be done by early/mid 2009, the 777 fleet should be done by mid 2010.
Quoting Klkla (Reply 15): What percentage of aircraft that are being retained (minus the 737's leaving the fleet) have been painted in the new livery?
As of today 36% when you take out the 737s however that number jumps to 47% when you count the Ted 320s which should finish repaint in the next few months.
Quoting Klkla (Reply 15): In what year did they introduce the new Livery?
Feb 2004
Quoting Klkla (Reply 15): When do they plan on completing the entire fleet?
Good question, the last time UA changed liveries it took 6 or 7 years to repaint the entire fleet, UA is not rushing to repaint the fleet (except for the Ted planes) and only repaints the aircraft when they need it.

Most Airlines will now repaint most of their aircraft when it comes time for a heavy check.
Makes more sense to do the heavy check while installing new seats along with getting new paint on, then just pulling a aircraft out of service for paint and no new seats.
However I think it is a waste of money when a Airline knows a Dc-9 or Boeing 737 is going to be retired, but yet they paint it in the new colors. Then one month later it is sitting in the desert getting a sun tan with its engines removed.
