It was daily for the summer. I believe it is now a 6 weekly service for the winter schedule. Etihad are believed to be considering a twice daily service in the near future, which may include a DUB stopover on a transatlantic flight.

Fair point, but we Irish have a slightly different approach to arithmetic!

Actually, traffic through DUB is on a downturn at the moment, across all markets, so it remains to be seen whether this will affect EY's plans for DUB.

What also interests me is what happens between EY and EK; Dubai is having some budgetary problems at the moment (who'd have thought that building huge offshore developments and the world's biggest airport would have caused budgetary problems!) and it's widely rumoured that the far wealthier Abu Dhabi wants a stake in EK as part of its assistance to Dubai; if this happens, might there be a rationalisation of service across the network.

What I foresee is, ultimately, that that new DXB Airport could become the single AUH/DXB Airport, with a Maglev service from AUH and then EK/EY merging to form a UAE super-carrier. This way, all the airports on both airline's networks could get access to many more markets. And of course DUB would benefit hugely. EK should have been in DUB years ago.

Remains to be seen in EY's case. DUB's latest numbers include Cape Town and Sharm El Sheikh flights in the "other long haul" category, and those flights are not even operating now, so it doesnt necssairly mean that EY has been affected at all. (well, at least I hope not..  Wink
