Heads up:

I have learned from one of my sources that there will be an Omni Air DC-10 in TOL tomorrow (12/12) around 1730L.

Rare treat for us.

good to see..

I remember living in Toledo when I was younger, and a 747 would make its weekly arrival right over my house...

really sparked my aviation interest

Now we get 3 or 4 weekly 744 flights, rumored to be daily 744 flights soon.

I knew about two of them...the QF, and EK ones...but what are the others?

good to see the cargo thriving while that commercial whithers away...

They are actually all operated by Atlas but there are two EK flights and one QF flight. As funny as it is, EK 9910 which is the Thursday evening flight just flew over my house as I was typing this.

I'm still sad to see that FWA's cargo life has been drained dry with the departure of Kitty Hawk.

Who is going to head out? I'm debating if I am and then just tie it into my planned trip out to see the Virgin A319/320s. Wonder where its gonna park though b/c I would guess its a flight for the 180th.

It's going to the guard now. It was at the one of the FBO on the fields until it changed recently.

It was rumored back in the summer (I believe) that we would be getting some 744 going to Asia through ANC. I haven't heard any updates because most of my news came through flytol.com, which has shut down for some reason.

Sorry real life took control. I'll try to get the forums and photo gallery back up this weekend. I've had a ton of emails from people with new pics that want to get them up. LOL

The site will also be formatted in more of a Blog/Wiki type setup so it will be easier to update from you guys since my free time isn't overflowing right now. Sorry about the issues.

I am flying up to DTW Saturday to get the arrival of the 747. I should be there around 1pm. I would love to meet up with some of the DTW spotters if I can. I am coming in from BNA on WN (SWA3560 BNA-DTW). Please, PLEASE, PM ME for spotting help and anything else you can give. I have never been to DTW airport and have no clue about spots, etc. I did rent a car for the day. I will be returning to BNA that evening on a WN flight that leaves around 5:30PM. Look at my profile for more info!

There is a good place down the service roads that go past the NW hanger (where the plane will be parked no doubt) and if you keep following it past the Spirit/old TZ hangers and past DHL to the FDX terminal you can sit and watch 22R arrivals right at the flare. Though the last time I was there Metro police came and told me to move....... that was the first it happened to me at that spot and I had been spotting there for a long time before then.

Another good place is on the right side the 22R at the stop light on top of the over pass of I94. Anywhere in that area is good, though Metro Police do make their rounds though and will make people move if your sitting to close.

Once last spot is the lot right next to the Shell station, if they are landing 4L you will get a good look but the TAF is showing the 22/21s in use as always when its winter in Michigan.

My advice is just hang around Wayne road which runs parallel to 22R/4L since the plane will prolly land on 22R and the NW hangers were it will park are around there as well.

Just note, DTW is not the best for spotting as it is guarded pretty well and you will be pulled over and told to leave at many of the good spots.

Also according to another topic, the NW744 is not leaving VCV till late afternoon Pacific time.........

Hey if I get it then great. If not, no big deal, it will still be fun to see the red tails in DTW!
