Apparently Richard Anderson is coming to CVG tomorrow for a meeting with DL folks. I've heard DL folks Only. And news to follow.
Anyone have info?
Dare I ask for speculation lol.
My friend and I are going to show up and wait around, I'd like to get a chance to meet Mr. Anderson. A couple years ago I was able to meet Ed Bastian in concourse B.

Well, we know CVGFCO is not coming back next year. But I haven't heard anything big about CVG other than DL drops of service (ROA, MOB, etc.).

it's probably about downsizing CVG even more, with it's fate eventually being something like DFW a few years back

That's what a lot of people are probably going to think, but I doubt that a CEO would come to an airport and say, "Hi, everyone, we're eliminating this hub!"

Yea the end of the hub or the end of OH isn't likely........he may not be able to get out of CVG if he did say something like this  duck  (just picture him running down B with a group f pissed off DL people after him)

again.........he wouldn't go to CVG for that.
If something comes its like good..........remember its a monday. If it was news it would be on a friday.......stock will be able to "forget" over the weekend

Didn't Doug Parker go into PIT to have a press conference (Steelers jet christening, maybe?) & at that appearance, announced US was cutting PIT even more?

That is not necessarily true at all anymore these days.

DL is expected to announce its changes to WorldClubs & Crown Rooms tomorrow. Doubtful that this is related to the news, but executives often have meetings at their hubs for a variety ot reasons.

checkmark  My guess is it's some kind of merger-related update or really any kind of Delta announcement that management has decided to make at "just another one of their hubs". (Thus "proving" to skeptics that CVG is still an important DL hub.)

In other words, IMO it will be an announcement that could have been made at ATL, SLC, MSP, JFK, or DTW but this time, it happens to be from CVG.

CVGFCO has already been dropped for this year. DTWFCO is taking its place.

Well, I'd assume it's news specific to Cinci/Northern Kentucky folks, so I guess speculation about downsizing at CVG isn't off base? I too think it would be along those lines. DTW can easily accomodate it's traffic.

There is nothing bad about announcing the reduction of CVG. If anything, it shows an airline is taking pro-active steps in a bad environment, and could help Delta stock, not hurt it.

I don't think things are going to go well for CVG. Who knows - maybe Comair and Mesaba are going to be combined. Or maybe DL will surprise us all and add some sort of flights out of CVG. I'd like to see Comair take over most of the connection flying out of CVG, get them back to their roots.

CVG, while a great airport (which I use every other week) has more service than the market warrants. Downsizing it a little will only help in the long-run.

I suspect they'll announce a major realignment of the network from CVG and the bank system. If you look at and listen to the presentation mgmt made last week they want to realign CVG and DTW to complement each other, not compete against each other. In a sense, outstations would get the maximum benefit as the two hubs would function as one HUGE hub with complementing waves of departures and arrivals.

I doubt Comair and Mesaba would merge... at least I hope we don't. Mesaba is attractive to DL right now because we're cheap having reduced longevity and shrunk for so long. Merging with Comair would completely negate that cost structure and still not fix the problems at Comair. Not to mention the major labor hassle it would create in trying to combine the work groups. It would be worse than US/HP! If they keep the wholly owned airlines separate, they create more leverage.

25 Burnsie28 : Doubtful they were just awarded some more flying. I wouldn't be shocked, but who knows. AMS is already seasonal from CVG. Agreed, more along the line
26 DLCnxgptjax : Just curious what that new flying is?
27 CVG72 : Bingo. I think you hit it on the head. I don't see anything major coming, but I could see a commitment to using CVG blah blah blah. CVG72
28 FlyABR : maybe DL is gonna relegate most flying at cvg to diesel 9s vs crjs...

30 Bobnwa : Parker worked for Anderson at NWA.
31 ATWZW170 : So Parker and Anderson are going to merge US and DL.
32 Enilria : Anderson isn't going to want to get hit with tomatoes. I CAN imagine him making a veiled threat about closing the hub if business doesn't improve. I

34 Enilria : I think a lot of signs point to the hub "closing" in August or September 2009 which would probably need to be announced by May. DL/NW have 37 flights
35 EA CO AS : Or ANY announcement, for that matter.
36 Breaker1011 : I think what will ultimately be left for CVG will be similar to this list in the end: ATL, MSP, DTW, SLC, JFK, MEM(?), LGA, DCA, LAX, MCO, LGW, CDG, S
37 Isitsafenow : My turn...... Anderson will announce the closing of DTW as a hub and a re-build of CVG as a hub. safe
38 Vctony : Even if he wanted to do that, the MASSIVE amount of money that NW invested in that beautiful terminal there would be enough to keep NW/DL in DTW at l

40 Papatango : Where's the BIG announcement?
41 Bobnwa : That is what I predict. CEO's visit stations all the time. Very seldom do they announce anything major.

51 Brilondon : I think he is being funny. DL would not kill off DTW as it is the jewel in the NWA crown that is most sparkling.
52 Luv2fly : Hitthe nail on the head IMHO. I do think that in time CVG will be like PIT a shell of its former self.
53 Lexy : Compared to the late 90's build up there, it's already that. But I do get your point none the less.
54 Lincoln : Er.... Actually, no it isn't in Detoit...or even Detroit for that matter (it's in kind-of-sort-of nearby Romulus... The best part of connecting in DT
55 Burnsie28 : Off the top of my head MEM-JFK Yes, but they are chaging times because those banks still compete with DTW which is more of a rolling hub anymore, muc
56 Tommy767 : I'd count in DCA/BWI/EWR/PHL to still be kept around as well. On Regionals probably, but any of these destinations have been flown on mainline before
57 DLCnxgptjax : Thanks, I didn't know that was being operated by Comair.
58 Panamair : CVG-AMS was a 752 last summer. This summer it's moving to a 763ER because DL (courtesy of NWKL) will have much stronger help on the AMS end now with
