Report: Spanair Pilots Did Not Complete Checklist

Stern.de reports and references Spanish newspaper El Pais:

"[...] hatten die Piloten der Unglücksmaschine der spanischen Gesellschaft Spanair beim Start vergessen, die Landeklappen ("flaps") und Vorflügel ("slats") auszufahren. [...] Sie seien in Eile gewesen, [...]. Um sich eine Startfreigabe zu reservieren, hätten die Piloten die vor dem Start übliche Serie technischer Überprüfungen unterbrochen."

My translation:
"[T]he pilots of the ill-fated Spanair plane forgot to extend the flaps and slats. [...] They were in a hurry [...]. In order to reserve a take-off clearance, they interrupted the usual pre-takeoff checklist."

Am I cured? Slept 5 hours on last long-haul flight...
