There should be much more tonight. Weather around here is horrible with the snowfall. I am getting ready to leave work and am expecting my normal 1 hour drive to be at least 2 1/2 hours or more. I am flying out of ORD next Tuesday, hopefully it doesn't snow until after my departure.

Started snowing at DTW around 5:00pm EST. Righ now at 7:20pm EST we have havey snow with amounts go to 5" or more by morning. DTW is showing some delayed and XLD flights tonight because of weather. That is per DTW web site.

So much for the opening of the new runway. I am assuming that they just can't keep the runway clean right? I flew the Sunday after Thanksgiving through ORD and there wasn't much snow on the pavement and the winds were out of the east yet they were only landing 9R and 4R. I thought they were supposed to be able to land 4 at a time if the winds were out of the eastish....am I thinking wrong??

Quoting Soxfan (Reply 11): I'm not one that reads airline codes well, so what does this mean? Are certain planes still cleared to land?
EGF is American Eagle.

EGF (American Eagle) has requested all of their flights to ORD (Chicago Ohare) be groundstopped until 2230Z due to limited gate space. This is for American Eagle call signs only.
In otherwords, they dont have any Eagle gates at ORD to take inbound planes (the gates are backed up with outbound heavily delayed planes).
Flying a plane is no diff. from riding a bicycle. Its just a lot harder to put baseball cards in the spokes. -'Airplane'

Quoting Dtwclipper (Reply 10): Where is the A/C? At the North Terminal? Where are the pax? Did they clear customs/imigrations in Detroit?

I would really like to know where the A/C is too. I hope they will work it at one of the AA gates in DTW. Since DTW is an international airport, I doubt there were problems with clearing immigration.

My guess is that since it had to deplane, they would've done it down where LH is. Clear CBP and then go to the hotel. That's a lot of rooms, but I'm surprised they wouldn't have tried to get a reserve crew over to DTW (unless the wx were preventing that).

The fact that the new runway is less than 8,000ft in length may also have something to do with it. Snowy conditions often necessitate extra pavement for stopping action...just ask WN.

In the interest of security, should you really be posting that stuff?

AA 154 parked at gate A36 at the McNamara Terminal (the only widebody international arrival gate was occupied at the North).

Interesting. Had to make it difficult for AA personnel to work that flight.
