DL 81 JFK-LAX now showing OKC as a diversion. Showing speed around 350 kts?? Any ideas?

Looks like DL 607 did the same earlier today. Headwinds and weather = refuel?

That's really weird that both flights diverted today to OKC, both JFK-LAX flights on the 737-800. There must be some mighty headwinds up there, because generally that aircraft has plenty of range.

Yep...headwinds are slashing into the performance of the B737-800

So far Delta has(or will) fuel stop(ped) DL607/DL81/DL137 JFK-LAX into OKC
along with DL107 JFK-SAN (fuel at OKC)

Also....DL631/DL151 JFK-SEA into MSP.
DL133 JFK-SFO into SLC

We have on big Winter Storm building in the Middle of the country and heading into the whole Lower part of Michigan. Winds aloft are very high for flying Westbound. We are expecting up to 12" of snow and up to 0.1 of ice. This is going to be a big one for DTW.

Are these 737-800s going out with full fuel loads or are they going out with reduced fuel loads as part of the fuel saving measures put in place a few months ago?

Any info on JetBlue's transcons. Usually they are affected when the headwinds are strong. In fact, don't the 738s have longer range than the A-320s?

Answered my own question -- Looks like a lot of JetBlue en-route refuel stops. All OAK, LGB flights today have had to refuel in SLC, PHX or DEN.
