Have no idea what this plane is doing in Kuala Lumpur,
but to answer some questions;
3 x 773ERs are wet leased (with crews and FAs) from Jet airways for 6 months till TK crews gets trained.
After 6 months TK crews take over, for another 2 years.
First flights to LHR, SIN and HKG from IST.

Döner extralong, doesnt smell good to me. The 773 wasnt pretty in Jet Aw livery, and it isnt in TKs. The thin long tailfin and the overly long fuselage needs a genius designer´s paintscheme to mask its odd shape. Very rare, CX specially painted one is ok, but this one, not at all.
Quoting Flighty (Reply 9): A good thing to remember here is that IST is, by some measures, the 2nd largest European metropolitan city, behind London. Lots of people there, so maybe this will work out.
Wealth and disposable income are what matter. On that scale Istanbul slips down the rankings. (Not that I doubt that TK will fill these planes. I'm just suggesting that population isn't a reliable indicator of market size.)

Quoting LAXintl (Reply 15): While some parts of the country might be quite poor, there is an extreme amount of wealth by many in Turkey. (it helps when almost no one but civil servents pay taxes Wink )
Laxintl, as the resident American-Turkish here you said it best my friend. As you know the F Class of this plane is reserved for AKP and their suddenly rich followers
I agree with Bahadir something is of with the tail color it looks orange??

AC looks great, but quite a large amount of free canvas! They should 'promote' Turkey with some famous landmarks, and nicer graphics to artfully erase that white and make the a/c look more proportional. Perhaps they should hire Peter Max like what he did for NYC on CO 777. The title could have been bigger with more dark gray than black to reduce the starkness....
BTW, what is the tulip looking graphics on the empennage; what is it's significance?

The fact that it originated in Anatolia and the its like one of the symbols of the country. Tulips were brought from Anatolia to Holland in 16th century and became very popular and cultivated in massive numbers.
