I must say the B777-200/300 is a great looking plane. It has aged so well...

How long is the aircraft in TK's hands? Are Jet Airways flight and cabin crew operating the services, or is it just flightcrew ?

Have no idea what this plane is doing in Kuala Lumpur,
but to answer some questions;
3 x 773ERs are wet leased (with crews and FAs) from Jet airways for 6 months till TK crews gets trained.
After 6 months TK crews take over, for another 2 years.
First flights to LHR, SIN and HKG from IST.

What a beauty!

Döner extralong, doesnt smell good to me. The 773 wasnt pretty in Jet Aw livery, and it isnt in TKs. The thin long tailfin and the overly long fuselage needs a genius designer´s paintscheme to mask its odd shape. Very rare, CX specially painted one is ok, but this one, not at all.

A good thing to remember here is that IST is, by some measures, the 2nd largest European metropolitan city, behind London. Lots of people there, so maybe this will work out.

Air Canada will be irked to be described as "white".

Wealth and disposable income are what matter. On that scale Istanbul slips down the rankings. (Not that I doubt that TK will fill these planes. I'm just suggesting that population isn't a reliable indicator of market size.)

Ugly.. Am I the only one to notice 'almost orange' tail. Compared to other 'red's we have in the Turkish flag and THY tails, this 'red' is not good.

Also, I think the tulip at the back of the plane, is the longest tulip in the world  Smile and it still doesn't fill the back of the fuselage that well.

On a higher note, it indeed is a great day for the airline.

Dont think he meant how long is the aircraft. He meant how long will TK be operating the
aircraft. Also 63.7 metres is the -200 variant off the 777. The -300 variant is 73.9 metres.

AC looks great, but quite a large amount of free canvas! They should 'promote' Turkey with some famous landmarks, and nicer graphics to artfully erase that white and make the a/c look more proportional. Perhaps they should hire Peter Max like what he did for NYC on CO 777. The title could have been bigger with more dark gray than black to reduce the starkness....

BTW, what is the tulip looking graphics on the empennage; what is it's significance?

The fact that it originated in Anatolia and the its like one of the symbols of the country. Tulips were brought from Anatolia to Holland in 16th century and became very popular and cultivated in massive numbers.
