Has been rumored for a while now. BCN was always going to be before DUB due to larger Ex Pat population. Hope if and when it starts it works well for them. If they can sell BCN-DXB it might do alot better.
Quoting MIgAiR54 (Reply 1): PIA to BCN via DXB................I don´t think so.
Has been reported in various Pakistani press over the last 6 months. Was also discussed on here a few times.
Would be great to see them in DUB also.
“We need to replace these ageing aircraft to meet the demands of today,” he added. Capt. Haroon also disclosed that from March 2009 PIA will start Islamabad-Barcelona twice weekly Boeing-777 service with Dubai as one stop.
“Dublin is another new destination for which we are waiting confirmation while we will increase Leeds flights from two to thrice weekly,” he added.

Quoting MIgAiR54 (Reply 1): And SIA will go daily soon to SIN via Milan
Hi MIgAiR54,
Singapore Airlines is flying nowadays daily to SIN via MIL with Boeing 777-300 equipment.

Seeing the doubts of Emirates to not serve Spain, the decision of PIA to serve DXB and ISB would be great if it comes to a happy end. Another 777 serving Barcelona.
I cannot wait until the final decision and I'm so tired to reach DXB twice a month via CDG, FRA or other European city.
Regards,
Gerard

I think BCN is the EK list for 2009, so 2 airlines in this route are too much.
IMO EK would do better in MAD as the amount of Madrid based companies doing business in the Gulf have risen significantly over the last couple of years. I personally know several people who commute MAD-AUH and MAD-DXB on monthly basis always flying F/J.
PIA to BCN is looking after low yield-VFR base in Cataluña

Quoting Humberside (Reply 3): I assume DUB would be one stop. Would PIA use Dubai or somewhere in Europe?
Would be great to see PIA DUB-DXB-ISB or KHI. We have no DXB link, only AUH. PIA would pick up Irish traffic on the DUB-DXB if they did this flight. Also DXB-Pakistan would pick up a bit. Maybe with the chance of picking up various markets Ireland-Gulf and Ireland - Pakistan and UAE- Pakistan it might make the route work.

I didn't´t know, I though they will start next march. Great news, I read in an interview with SIA manager that they may start non stop service in a near future.

They will. I think they could serve with A330. QR and Royal Jordania are the only link with the middle east. And the traffic between Spain and the middle east, south Asia is growing fast.
Did PIA serve MAD in the past???? I remember I have seen PIA aircraft in MAD, I think it was an A310. Could be??

They started their GLA service like that - ISB-DXB-GLA and LHE-DXB-GLA ... however the route became nonstop shortly after that ... too much competition from EK I guess.

Yes I was looking on another website and it showed the history of their routes operated incl suspended ones but Spain never showed up. They used to serve ATH with an A310 but GF and EK seem to have pushed them out sadly. At the boarding gate for GF ATH-BAH 2 weeks ago 90% of passengers were Pakistani workers going home for visits.

..true, true...I do think PK should upgrade its A310's, that should help.

Maybe, but do you really think that the public care if it is a 777 or A310?? Okay if the A310s cabin is old and outdated, maybe then, but otherwise not.

PIA should have stuck to their 80's green/gold colour scheme, only modifications being adopting a darker green and using abbreviated larger "Pakistan" title only.

Both RJ and TK are well fed with Spanish tourists (many of them high revenue) and businessmen, so maybe they are not interested in the low yield ex-pat passengers. Additionally, I guess their baggage allow must be 40 Kg. to Pakistan, so RJ (A320) and TK (B738) would be restricted on this aspect.
