Hi all,
Do any folks in Trinidad or AA personnel know why AA 1818's Boeing 757-200 service to MIA from POS this morning was cancelled?? Mechanical probs maybe??? I was listening in on ATC routinely and everyone else had left but not 1818 and then the aa site said flight was cancelled (but also had a new etd of 430 PM) so not sure what the deal is...
Thanks a lot,
Ruslan

SABRE says a/c is out of service, but no further details.

Thanks QQ..As an update, the 757 is sitting at Gate 11 at POS and no movements have been seen..i also saw that Flight 1819 from MIA for tonight (12/29/08) is cancelled too..I guess the a/c out of service is all we are being provided with lately..Happened to me on December 9th with flight 1721 from ATL to MIA...They rebooked me for the next day, saying that all flights that day were sold out..However, I got on flight 1039 later that same day and the Boeing 738 literally had about 70 passengers...go fig..but anyway, will continue to monitor the AA situation here at POS..

I left the same morning for MIA,but on Caribbean Airlines BW484.While waiting at the gate,AA passengers were invited to board for departure at 8:00am.I really found it strange whenwe pushed back at our scheduled dep. time of 8:45am that 1818 was still at the gate.I guess its a MX problem.
It is what we think we know already that prevents us from learning.......

AA's flights to and from POS are always delayed due to MX problems, these delays are no surprise as they are the worst airline operating at POS in terms of OTP. This is why many customers have switched to Caribbean Airlines, Continental, and Delta. AA has really destroyed their reputation in POS.

Its kind of rear to see AA cancel both flights out of POS, normally when AA1818 is down the AA1819 still flies. The 1818 turns to another flight when it arrives in MIA and continue on somewhere in the US, more so to LGA or ORD.
A little too dramatic, while AA is not a high reputable airline they still have a following because of their seamless connections at MIA to the US from South America. Caribbean Airlines cater more to the business and VFR traffic out of MIA and some of the connecting pax.

Copa also caters to connecting traffic and will probably operate into POS on a daily basis. In my opinion AA should put the 738s on the route. I want to try CM's service to POS one day soon.
