SQ A345 Routes

Does anyone know which routes the SQ A345 is operating (aside from EWR and LAX of course). It used to operate a shuttle to/fro CGK every day - presumably so the crew could keep up their required landing/take-offs. However, SIN-CGK is nothing but 777s at the minute, and then the odd A333 from late Jan to late March.

Perhaps the current SQ 345 pilots will be rated for the 333s? That would mean they would no longer have to operate these 345 shuttle flights, as the pilots would operate a few 333 flights a month to keep current.

This would be very disappointing, as the 345 is the only SQ a/c I've not been on. Tried to get it SIN-JKT twice, but both times it was subbed for a 773. And given you can't even use points for the SIN-EWR/LAX flights (in J), I suspect there is no way I'll get to ride on it unless it goes back to operating a few regional flights. And with the credit crunch, no chance I'll be getting any more J class trips to the USA for a VERY long time...

I think if you're a KrisFlyer member you can buy into the "standard" and "full awards" on those routes?

Anyone can fly, only the best Soar.

I would love to fly SQ A345 !
eve n on a very shor haul .
I do hope they will keep such a small rotation as SIN JKT , but i think this is not the right distance for such a long haul jet

regards

SIN-JKT is for crew training and familiarisation (just like new A333's will be first run on the same sector for a few months before launching australia/japan routes in 2009).

So where does the 5th 345 currently fly to, when not flying between LAX/EWR to SIN?

Personally, it's been one of my best flying experiences, across airlines. I flew the Executive Economy product six times until it was phased out earlier this year. Then I flew the 744 once via FRA and was shell shocked to see the difference. Haven't flown SQ since. But will be flying the new 773ER to DEL in early Jan.

Since the A345's are now equiped with only Business Class seats I have a feeling the planes are only used on the LAX and EWR routes and the rest of the time the planes are in maintenance or just itting around the airport.

It would make sense to train the A345 pilots for the A333's this will enable more flexibility for crew planing etc. Once the first B772/3's will be retired some of the pilots flying those planes will also be retrained for the A333/A345's and some will remain flying the B77W's

I have been keeping my eye on these JKT routes for a while as I have been keen to fly the 345. When they did the switch to all J class I checked SIN-JKT (maybe 6 months ago) and it was still showing a 345 once/twice a day in an all business class config on this route. But, looks like since the 333s have been scheduled there are no more regional 345 flights.

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh the A345....

Great aircraft but what a bloody long time to spend on a plane.

I loved in the 1st time - got tired of the duration after the 7th.

I'll be happy to send you the pictures from my flights on the SQ A345, though do not have a detailed trip report. Msg me if you want them.

Tarmac time. MX. Training. Same like the WhaleJets - 5 frames can do the current schedules, the 6th is always available as backup and for MX swaps.

The A345 was only operating on the CGK run on selected Mondays in Nov 2008, the withdrawal has nothing to do with the introduction of the A333.

A345 - SQ954/955
A333 - SQ958/959

Damn, I thought maybe I could experience the Airbus 340-500 on the SIN-CGK route, I guess that won't be happening anytime soon

Certainly not worth it, especially for the full awards!
