What Is The State LHR T2?

I was wondering with all the fanfare last year and the absolute embarresment of the opening of T5 at LHR what the timetable is for the abominable T2.

Well work has already started on HE. The T5 problem lead to later than planned terminal re-shuffle. This is expected is happen early in the new year and the terminal will be demolished quite quickly i would imagine. I think/hope HE will take place much quicker then T5 (partly due to government pressure with 2012 games), its a tight shedule and not overly convinced it will be open in time. But at least the alliances will be under one roof (or two)

The satellite concourse has its roof on already. It is progressing well. In fact, it looks like it's going better than T5C. Still don't quite understand what they are planning to do with it, what with terminal 1 piers flanking it on both sides.

I just checked AIP. They issued some new LHR charts a couple of weeks ago.

There are couple of new spots of construction on the Eastern apron close to the maintenance area, one right at the 27L hold. This is obviously part of the ongoing transformation of the Eastern apron following the decommissioning of the crosswind runway. I assume we'll see some more orthogonal looking taxiways come out of this.

So rivetting stuff, as you can plainly see!

Terminal 2 should be history soon, there should be a new Heathrow East by 2012.
