Was last night (Friday Jan-02) the last for DHL's US domestic ops?

I see several DHL 722's ferried from ILN to CVG. None appear to have gone out to the outstations this morning (Saturday Jan-03.) There are some ABX birds operating though.

Direct KNOBS, maintain 2700' until established on the localizer, cleared ILS runway 26 left approach.

Not quite gone yet...

All DHL flying is scheduled to terminate on Jan 30, 2009.

I saw the usual DHL DC9 on the ground at GSP on 12/29/08.

Finally made it to an airline mecca!

Tjwgrr, look at ILN in Flightaware on Sunday nights between 20:00 and 22:00. Most of the operations have now switched from Saturday am to Sunday night.

I'm not sure about the Jan 30th date. All the 727s and DC-9s will be withdrawn from use by Jan 9th. ABX 767s, Astar DC8s and A300s, as well as feeders will do most of the flying from mid-January.

Still running a 722 from MSY. It used to go to ILN, now goes MEM-ILN, will hate to see them go.

The good old days: Delta L-1011s at MSY

I am.

A very close friend is a pilot scheduler.

January 30th...you can take that check to the bank and cash it.

Some stations have already closed. Manchester, NH--with a daily 727 from Allentown but more recently from Pittsburgh--ceased operations up here before Christmas.

ABX is no longer sending in their daily DC-9 from ILN to FWA... not sure when that stopped.

As for the DHL ground ops, a lot of the yellow can't-miss-em DHL trucks here in Fort Wayne have either had their DHL decals stripped away and deliver for local businesses now or have been sold to FedEx Express and been repainted from DHL yellow and red to FedEx white, purple, and orange. I've seen a few ex-DHL Ford Econolines and Dodge Sprinters now delivering packages for FedEx.

I don't work for FWA, their tenants, or their ad agency. But I still love FWA.

I'm not sure if I should be happy or sad about this. But DHL currently has parked 12 727's and 3 DC8's at CVG.

Its pretty awesome to see them when I'm on the DHL deice pad but sad to think that they're fates are pretty much doomed.

MIA is the only one I can think of. Do they do Trans-Atlantic to any US airport?
