Interesting article!  Smile

The creation of three large airline companies through the merger of 10 domestic carriers is to be completed in the first half 2001, China Daily reports Tuesday.

Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) sources said strict controls on fare discounting may be eased after the mergers are completed. The restructuring will expand the fleets of Air China, China Eastern Airlines Corp. (CEA) and China Southern Airlines Co. (ZNH).

Since March, CAAC has allowed discounting on just seven approved air routes easing a ban which sought to curb a price war threatening the viability of the local industry.

Which one of them will join One World or Star Alliance? So interested in knowing, anyone knows?  Smile
