We've all heard about SWA and Citrus adding flights but this was quoted by ABC News. Does anyone know what birds we might see? Any 747 trips planned and are there still seats available on the ship?

"Delta Air Lines and its subsidiary, Northwest Airlines, are adding more than 5,000 seats Jan. 16 and Jan. 21 by using larger aircraft on existing flights."

Delta has added some 767-300 flights on the DCA-ATL flights after the inauguration.

Delta is putting some 767-300s on DCA-ATL flights. On Jan 21, there will be 9x 757, 4x 767-300, and 1 EMB-175, MD-88 and MD-90 each.

Also looks like DL added an MD-88 on BWI-ATL on Jan 21, as well as 3 MD-88s on IAD-ATL. One IAD-CVG flight goes from an ERJ-145 to a CRJ-700 as well.

Is CO adding flights before/after the inauguration?

I don't normally fly CO, but they made me an South America flight offer I couldn't refuse via IAH from DCA a few days before the inauguration, and figured it was because they were trying to fill flights returning from bringing people to DC prior to the inauguration.

I know JetBlue is adding flights from JFK, LGB, OAK, and also having an ORD nonstop flight for the inauguration.

Not all of us can be heroes, some of us can only stand on the sidewalk and clap as they go by.

Please excuse my ignorance, but can a fully loaded, short-hop 763 takeoff from dca?

Not a problem since it's only 550 miles or so from DCA to ATL. The plane won't need to have a ton of fuel on board since it's a short hop, so that saves a ton of weight. 6800 feet is more than ample room to get a fully loaded plane with 260 passengers plus crew out of DCA - DL has flown 767-300s and 767-400s out of LGA before without a problem, and the runway at LGA is only 200 feet longer (which probably makes a miniscule difference).

Not to mention, DL has already flown the 767-300 in and out of DCA at least once in the past month or so as a test to make sure it would work.

Yes, DL already ran a B763 into DCA as a proving flight.

With either runway, using a high-performance configuration, the MTOW out of DCA is very sufficient for a full B763 for the comparitively short hop to ATL. Even with a long alternate and a lot of hold gas for ATL, you can easily get out of DCA with a full B763.

Interestingly, these do NOT show in the online flight schedules (the very latest of which I just downloaded ...), but that data can be suspect ....

I love to fly, and it shows!

NW isn't making too many significant changes to their DC ops around inaugartion.

The upgages are appearing on DTW-DCA, DTW-IAD, and DTW-BWI. Its tough to summarize them all because it varies significantly by day of the week. Nothing too earth shattering at DCA since the 757 is a regular visitor for NW. IAD goes all mainline again for a few days as well.

DCA:
A few of the DTW flights are being upgraded from 319's to 320's and some additional frequencies that aren't typically flown on the weekend are operating the weekend of 1/17-1/18. There is one upgrade from a 319 to a 757 over the weekend as well.

IAD:
CRJ & DC-9 flights to DTW are being upgraded to A319 & A320's before & after the event

BWI:
DC-9 & E-175 flights being upgraded to A319 & A320s on some frequencies.
