I just passed through the new security lanes at PHL. It is a beautiful area. There were only four lanes open but it was not too bad. I noticed they did not have the new signs for families, expert traveler, etc, but it is Philadelphia and they are always a bit behind the times. The area of shops on the other side of security is very nice also. Great windows for observing.

Well that sounds like some good improvement. PHL used to be my old stomping grounds but I haven't even visited in over a year. I was never too thrilled about anything in PHL.

That stuff opened around x-mas and it's a huge improvement over the old setup. It is a lot more inconvenient if you walk across the bridge from the F terminal to the rest of the airport though.

About time, I'm tired of that Terminal D security dump. Those long lines that end up over 1/2 or more toward the parking garage. This has to help.

If I am staying at the Marriott I'll often go through security at Terminal B just to avoid the old "D" line.

Side note: They still haven't yet removed the No Pedestrians - Carts Only (paraphrase) sign above the connector to Terminal F at the E side. This sign was a left-over from the pre-Terminal F days when the much-smaller area was just used as storage space for carts.

So when you transfer from D to E do you still have to go through a new checkpoint or is that gone now?

There is a new concourse between them that is inside security. The old checkpoints are both gone and replaced with one new one.
