Not yet. It will be delivered on January 20 and enter service the following day. It will be deployed on IST/ATH in the morning and DOH in the afternoon.

MEA has already uploaded most of its Spring 2009 schedule. There are some very interesting changes and frequency increases. In the future, I'll post a thread summarizing the highlights of the changes but in the mean time, you can check the schedules yourself on Amadeus.

Thanks BA.

This makes perfectly sense. I was checking for myself flight from/to Rome FCO and it showed A320-100/200 so I guess they will use it on this route as well.

Cheers

New fllight to SXF means the end of ME221/222 to CGN as it used to have same flight number

If this is indeed the case, then the DUS and CGN flights may not have performed up to snuff?

Any other new destinations??

CGN performed well last year, maybe it is due to reduced aircraft availability, they chose SXF or CGN.
For new routes look out for BGW starting in June 4 weekly on A320

Could be a good connection with U2 since they also fly there (from BRU), if ME's fare is attractive.

Here's the Air Canada news release which specifically mentions Beirut for their YUL-GVA flight:

Seems like major underutilization of the plane. But what else can they do? Run to another Gulf destination for then depart at 3 in the morning for an early departure in BEY?

You have to keep in mind that this aircraft will enter service in two days, but MEA will not be increasing frequencies until the start of the Spring schedule (end of March), so only temporarily will its new aircraft be underutilized.

DXB, CAI, and AMM will all go from daily to double daily with the start of the Spring schedule.

Not only there is a free A320 at night, but an A321 that has been freed up!

In peak time, you start having a light night DXB run on top of ME 428, and increased to RUH/JED/KWI but that's about it.

Let the Spring/Summer schedule come to see how it goes along.

One major concern I had a business traveller was timely flights for business, like outbound/inbound in one day, or late arrivals/departures. Those CAI, AMM & DXB are terrible for that!

I don't think so, because U2 and ME, thats not fitting in any direction.
Brussels has its one week direct flight to Beirut with Syrian Arab Airlines, should be enough for the moment.

What is the schedule for BEY-SXF exactly? There's no way 0205 0305 is relevant in either direction.

IIRC, the MEA flight arrives in SXF at 2:05 and leaves back to BEY at 3:05.

leaving at 3:05 AM is odd for a flight leaving Europe to the MIddle East though

Pictures of future F-ORMB C/N 984 A330-243 are already in the database!

When is F-OMEA leaving for GF? In the interim, could ME be operating 5 A330 at the same time?
