I was looking out the window at work watching planes land and take off and to my suprise I saw UA 744 land. Got on Flight Aware and noticed it was UA895.

Anyone know why she was diverted?

Due to Polar temps being below fuel freeze point it required a Northern Pacific routing with a fuel stop to carry the revenue payload. (same happended on the 15th).

HKG airport website is now showing UA 895D due into HKG at 15:20 on 01/18...why such a long delay - crew rest?

After arrival ANC a passenger got sick that needed to be taken off. Then following push back the crew had an indication light that needed to trouble shot for about 20mins. Between the two, crew ran out of time.

what happened to all teh extra crew carried on the ORD-HKF flight ? why would they need a fresh crew in ANC and where would you get a UA 744 crew on short notice ?

The crew simply ran out of hours with the added delay in ANC for the sick passenger and then trouble shooting the mechanical issue.

Passengers and crew were sent to a hotel with 895 departure resheduled for the next day.

Unfortunate, however things happen.

I saw the ambulance and wondered.
UA has dropped several birds in during the past week; I've got some friends who handle their ramping... they had a VERY late night a few days back!
