What are the airlines that have taken off IFE on some aircraft or have ordered them without IFE sytems.
The reason I ask is because, IFE isn't really a big deal for me unless of course it is PTV system. I flew CO recently and on a new -900, NO IFE. Many speak badly of US because they are doing the same on the new buses, so I am quite shocked to see that on this new 737-900 I didn't find an IFE system.
CO is retrofitting all the 737NGs with an 80 channel live tv system starting rather soon I believe. For the last few months all of the new NGs that CO has taken delivery of have come without IFE simply because ordering and installing the system at the factory and then having to rip it all out a few months later to retrofit the lIve tv system is kind of a waste and rather costly.

CO has not removed any IFE, what they are doing is not installing any right now on aircraft being delivered new. The reason being starting this year they will begin installing Livetv on all 737-700, 737-800, 737-900, 737-900ERs and 757-300s. They did not want to pay to install the typical drop down IFE only to pay to rip it out a year later with the new Livetv IFE., the 737-900ER you were on was mostly likely been delivered in the past 12 months. The newest aircraft without the IFE installed will be the first to receive the Livetv 80 channel system.
