Please post Super Bowl charters and flight additions/upgrades when you hear about them!

So far the Cardinals have stated they will not be chartering any aircraft for fans, but I will be curious what they end up taking for the team + family.

Those of us in PHX were certainly not expecting to see any traffic from the Super Bowl this year....

Well Arizona flies Northwest, so im guessing it will likely be a Northwest A330-300 just like IND did to the superbowl a few years ago.

It will be NW9962 when it comes around.

The Steelers fly US and normally a 752 but think they will want a larger aircraft. The Eagles who also flew US, would use a DL 763 for longer trips and for the Conference Championship used a NW 333; the Steelers might do the same. Should be a great game.

According to the Post Gazette, B6 has already announced two n/s flights to TPA to accomodate Steelers fans' travels to the Big Game. Check it out at www.postgazette.com. Booking is already available.

Didn't US fly a 762 back from DTW after they won the big game a few years ago? It would be awesome if they would fly such an aircraft this go around. Bigger games call for bigger planes!  Wink

I am pretty sure that they flew a US 752 to DTW the last time. I remember the well publicized photo/videos of the pilot twirling his Terrible Towel out of his window as he taxied in to drop off the team.

People who have paid several thousands of dollars for a single ticket often do not wish to risk that investment to a close-in flight cancellation due to storms etc. Also, many of the hotels will have established three or four night minimums for the special event. And indeed, the Super Bowl is a multi-day festival, not just a football game.

That said, there usually are charters that leave the morning of the game and return flight scheduled for three or four hours after the game. That was true with the Patriot's SB games in Jacksonville and Houston.

We have a few of our jets going to the SuperBowl this year. A few Lears, Challengers and Gulfstreams - mostly using TPA but some have requested PIE.

Well Southwest is the official airline of the NFL, NBA, NHL, and MLB yet none of the teams charter WN.

I'd vote for my team taking a NW 747-200. Actually NW operates two 747-200s so they can operate both teams charters!

I'm not trying to take the focus off this year's game but what did the Giants take from EWR-PHX last year? For some reason I think they took a United 777 in the companies old livery.

Agreed, don't remember a 747 for the Super Bowl.
For London, it was a UA 744, EWR-LHR flight 9905
The Dolphins took a NW 742 FLL-LHR, flight 9970.

I am sure PIE will see a lot of traffic too, mainly in the form of corporate/private as will Vandenburg Airport, Peter O Knight Airport etc as TPA can't park all the aircraft that come in. There is a possibility we will see traffic as far as MCO. When Jacksonville had the superbowl a couple years ago, planes were coming down to DAB. Infact the Patriots departed out of DAB after the game the next day.

I don't think TPA has enough ramp space to park all the planes unless they close their crosswind runway to park the planes

That's the plan I believe.

PIE will certainly see a lot of traffic since it's a short Limo drive, and more hotels in the vicinity. The problem is the departures after the game and Monday, rather than arrivals, and PIE can be much easier to depart from, depending on runway use.
