MASKargo, Malaysia Airlines' Cargo division will be operating 4 747-200Fs and 1 747-400F with the start of this Summer's schedule to Europe, Australia and the Far East.

MASKargo will also move its European hub from Hahn in Germany to Amsterdam - further strengthening its relationship with KLM.

I know MASKargo has 2 747-236(SF)'s of their own, are the other aircraft leased from someone like Atlas Air?

ATLAS, hope this means they are on time. At the moment they normally arrive in HKG about 12 hours late !!

IS MASKargo becoming crazy???? Last year they moved all operations from AMS to Hahn because they wanted to focus their freight operations in Europe at one point. Moreover, KLM said they also were interested in Hahn. What a difference a year can make. Anyway, welcome back MASKargo!

Regards
Laurens

PS doesn't MASKargo have any MD-11s anymore?

Hahn Airport apparently had weight restrictions for 747-400F operations so MASKargo was not keen to continue developing the hub. Apart from that MASKargo and KLM Cargo also code-share extensively so it does make some sense to build a hub at Schiphol.

MASKargo's MD11's were on-lease from World Airways. Now that MAS is under 'new' ownership - its relationship with World will continue to downgrade since the old management had vested interests in World.

Does MASKargo still operate 1x a week to ADL or has that stopped?

Presumably stopped with the advent of 747-400 services resuming via MEL. There should be plenty of space below on 747-400...but will check.

MAS777, since when does MASKargo have a 747-400F? Is this one leased from Atlas (as I can't find a -400F listed in the JP for MAS)? Anyway, haven't seen a MASKargo -400F in AMS and hope it will come (as the 747's which now come to AMS are either the old -200Fs or a Atlas -200F).

Indeed - MASKargo currently leases its 747-400Fs from Atlas Air whilst its 2 747-236Fs were originally its first 2 passenger 747-236Bs bought new from British Airways as BA cancelled their order from Boeing in 1981.
