Cathay Pacific today confirmed that they will launch their triangle cargo route to Miami and Houston this March.

It was supposed to start in September, but delayed as a result of the Boeing strike and a slowing cargo market.

Some decent news in the freighter business...its gone from "bad to worse"..now I would love to see CX start MIA.....which of course isn't possible direct with any of CX's planes...now AA could theoretically start MIA-HKG nonstop when they get their B789's.

That being said, IIRC, CX was going to start HKG-YYZ-MIA a while back.. scratchchin

MIA-HKG-MIA would be a strong route!

For flights about to begin in a month, there is no information on the cathaypacificcargo.com website? I looked in the press releases, network, route maps and schedule info areas.

Was this news bit confirmed by CX?

Wasn't there another airline interested in NRT-MIA nonstop? Does the 77L have the legs for that?

Cargo flights don't generally need huge lead in times and its not rare for them to start on short notice.

The article cites primary sources from Cathay Pacific.

ANA, JAL and American Airlines have all expressed interest - of course only one will actually start it. It will make a good 787 route.

MIA-NRT is even "doable" with a B772ER.....AA's ORD-DEL and CO's EWR-HKG is at least "theoretically" longer (according to GCM)...that being said, the route would probably be a bit restricted...

Perfect route for a Dreamliner..

Easily. Maybe DL ought to look at that route.
