FL has just inked a sponsorship with the Milwaukee Brewers. The Brewers had been long time supporters of Midwest. Now, we will see if FL supplants YX on WTMJ Radio and the TV network to hammer it home.

As close as FL is with their expenses, this is a sign of bigger things brewing in MKE.

Isn't this essentially advertising? They already spend a great deal on mass advertising up here. They seem big on sports tie-in sponsorships, including deals with Peyton Manning, Donald Driver, and Michael Vick in the past.
Speaking of their advertising and Donald Driver, those Donald Driver billboards, however, kind of wasted a lot of potential because it was hard to see who he was. Showing him in a white uniform with black accents doesn't indicate he's even a Packer. Everything around here with ever vague piggyback unofficial tie-in to footbal in generall uses green and gold. If they nab a Brewer's star for advertising, hopefully they'll be able to use a Brewer's uniform or at least generic colors that don't suggest a different team, like they did with Donald Driver.

I like the clever title in this haha.. FL is really looking to deliver a knockout blow if all the rumors of new routes are true, along with this. They have one foot in the door, now will they take another step?

Yes. The difference is Midwest used to have a big advertising presence at Miller Park. They even had the Signature seats they used in their planes installed in their corporate box. Last season they rented out their box almost every game to save money--or so I am told.

Complete waste. the NFL guidelines can get sticky unless you pay NFL properties a big royalty. And I saw Driver on a Midwest flight about a month ago.

The Brewers, directly, have more say in the use of their logos etc than the Packers.

Yes and they give free tours and samples too. I sort of could see this coming with the Donald Driver being a spokesman for FL.
There is much more coming from FL here in MKE. Just a gut feeling on my part. I am waiting see if FL steps up and becomes the official airline of the Brewers as well or if YX is the official airline of the Brewers or did they outsource that as well.

Just heard the other day on the tv that YX is still the official airline of the Brewers. I was surprised but YX is still a big sponser of all the sports teams here in MKE and I doubt they will give that up easily. Then again who knows what the hell they are doing anymore.

Better not let that get back to Orlando, but that sure is funny.

Funnier still was this TSA guy trying to give him DEFENSIVE advice and Driver telling him he was offense. TSA guy kept at it. Driver was nice then told him he should really call coach and tell him all about it. Guy thought he meant it. Fun-eee!

I'm thinking its time for those guys over at TPG to wake up and take some action. YX has already been reduced to having 9 mainline aircraft and now it looks like even those 9 remaining 717s might be headin out to Mexicana. Add in some aggressive expansion by FL out of MKE and things ain't lookin too good for YX...
Will you watch the Cleveland Browns and the Detroit Lions on Sunday? Only if coach Eric Mangini resigned after a loss.

Looks like Airtran hit a home run. I guess YX should have let FL buy them out. The keep us "independent" rallying cry was a big mistake. Someone ate too many chocolate ship cookies up in the crystal palace. or maybe they had something else in them, washed down with the wrong kool-aid.

He did not have weed hidden in a water bottle, like a former FL spokesman from the NFL.

I bet when you walk into Miller Park this year you will probably see the same amount of Midwest advertising as before. The AirTran deal is replacing Mercedes Benz and not Midwest.
Midwest has always rented out their suite and I would imagine most suite holders do that since 81 home games a year is alot for any one company to use for themselves. What sucks is the employees used to be able to rent it for half the cost, and last year that went up to full cost which basically put it out of reach for most if not all of us.

First of all YX is still the "Official Airline" of the Milwaukee Brewers and have several years left on the charter flights for the team.
Second, the FL "landing zone" is a section that Mercedes-Benes dealers of Wisconsin gave big farewell due to the cost versus benefit. The section FL pick up is a field level group seating/picnic area and you have to have a group of 40 or more to rent the space. From friends that have been there they wish they could see the game better, but they get two home run balls. Here's a link to the Milwaukee Journal Business section article.
Third, from the way It looked to me when I flew out on YX to LGA two weeks ago the flight had only 3 or 4 open seats and my return flight was totally full. It has been a while since I've been on a flight of any carrier, but to me it seemed that the D concourse was fairly full as I headed to LGA and when I returned I was very surprised to see so many people that late in the day. Sorry did not take a camera with me I was headed to the funeral of my Grand Niece, so my mind was not on the trip, if you know what I mean.
I miss the 60's & 70's when you felt like a guest on the plane not cattle like today

I do not beleive that YX will be doing charters for the Brewers this year. They lost the Bucks charter as well, when the last mad dog left the fleet.
The 717 can not fly from MKE to the west coast. I don't think the Brewers will want to stop to refuel in LAS or wherever they choose along the way.
I would not be surprised if FL did the charters for the "Crew" as a way of eating into YX again.
AC does the charters for the Bucks now just as a FYI.

If DD was traveling personally he can fly whatever airline he chooses. I at one point was tied in with NASCAR drivers Rich Bickle and Dick Trickle. Trickle was sponsored by Coors Light and after the races at the bar he was drinking Pabst.
On a side note I did attend high school with Matt Kenseth old crew chief Robbie Reiser.

You're right... In September, YX announced they were dropping charter services, but helped set up those services with each team to a new airline. YX though is still the "official" airline of the Brewers. My question is, will the Brewers use AC Jetz like the Bucks have this year or who are they flying on?

I do not know. We will find out here in a couple of months. Unless one of our Canadian A Nutters have this information for us.
Any AC employees know if the Milwaukee Brewers will use AC Jetz like the Milwaukee Bucks??

YX is not in the Charter business anymore. YX has and is going back to their roots, focus on key business markets, less on the leisure markets. In the past with CO and HP, TPG basically cut out the fat, restructured and then grew. YX was a small airline even at its peak, so any cuts to the fleet/staff seem drastic.
If FL does charters for the Brewers, who cares? They are not eating into YX. YX gave up the charter business. And if anyone thinks people will fly FL just because the Brewers use them as their charter, wake up... Its all about the price.

Packers don't fly FL but a player has a sponsorship deal. a sponsorship and charter arrangement are 2 different things. Every airline including AI could come in and sponsor a sports team, but they aren't going to bounce their charter business around. The Brewers and any other team (except the Mets) will take a sponsorship (that is worth anything ) that will make them money.

I should have been a bit more clear. What I meant was another way to sort of take a slap at YX. I am aware that YX is not in the charter business anymore. However if FL would aggressively pursue the Brewers business it could be just another way to shoot a salvo over the bow of YX.

Last season the Brewers flew YX, but gave away flights on NW on a regular basis, along with prizes including flights on YX. Why not add FL into the mix and have 3 airlines supporting 1 team. I'm pretty sure the Brewers will take any sponsorship $$$ they can get.
