Saw this flight today and was curious if another B744 is getting retired. Any info?

I saw a UA 744 flying over PHX (love those contrails!) and when I looked it up it was a flight from there to Fort Bliss, so maybe the same plane?

All the 400s that were going to leave have been dumped already. There are way to many military charters going on right now and UA is a big player with the 747 in that game.

Dumped? Does that mean Sold? Lease terminated? Lease expired? Still owned but stored? Still leased but stored?

Keep in mind that Victorville is not just where airliners are parked, it's used as the gateway to the massive Fort Irwin National Training Center. Troops heading to Iraq or Afghanistan train at Fort Irwin for a couple months prior to deployment.

I just worked a charter(NW) on Monday morning from TCM-VCV with one our 742s(6623). Another left this morning and ferries back today. The next scheduled ones for NW are with a 744.

UA B744 is doing military charter out of VCV. It flew out from LAX this morning and will be ding it for some more days to come.

Also, starting Monday, Feb. 9, 2009 UA will be operating charter flight for Air Pacific again. This will go on until April.

Plus the Federal Penn across the street . I see some Sierra Pacific 732's in there .
