KLGA's New Tower. What About The Old?

Hey all! First of all, I'd like to thank you all for reading.
As many of us know, KLGA is getting a new ATC tower as well as more advanced equipment. But what is to happen to the old ATC tower? Over the years it's distinctive shape has made it a landmark for LGA and it would be very sad if it were torn down. Does anybody have insight on this? Perhaps it can be made into an observation tower or an aviation discovery center for kids or something where a small fee would be charged.

I believe it was marked historic therefore it can't be torn down, much like Denver Stapleton tower.

thats good to know. do you know what its to be made of it? open to public for visiting? or a observatory?
