Hello everyone,
As many of you might know TK received 3 x 777-300ERs from Jet Airways beginning of the year. For the first 6 months they will be wet-leased till the Turkish crews finish their training on the type. As of now, TK uses them on BKK, SIN, LHR and HKG routes.
It turns out TK can not operate these jets on its IST-JFK route with its Indian registry and international crew. Similar problem also flying these birds to Japan.
Is there a legal problem? Jet and TK both fly to the US, so how is this different? What other airlines are out there that they can't fly certain types to the US?

Look up the §§§ of the US-Turkey bi-lateral agreement and you will find the answer.

A US carrier using wet-leased equipment from -say Canada - might be barred by Turkey as well.
