i live in west yorkshire and every day (when the sun shines) see many planes passing overhead to the north west. These i assume are the US flights from Europe and that the UK flight path is such that all UK outgoing flights go up the UK on the east side and return on the west side.

finally i have a day when i am not at work and the sun is out but i have not see a single plane. what is going on?

i have tried to find a map of the UK flight path to confirm my thoughts but can't find any.

Am i under the UK to US flight path and if so then any reason why nothing has passed overhead? i know there have been disruptions with the weather in the UK but i can't believe this is the case so are the flights on another path?

thanks

Looks like the jetstream would be favouring southerly routings - it's bringing all those chilly winds down 'ere!

Using the FlightAware website you can pull up the planned route on individual flights. You can see, using the charts above, that not all UK departures route north.

It will depend on the location of the NAT tracks that change daily.
