DHL's 44 B757-200Fs?

Any answers will be greatly appreciated  Big thumbs up

Are the 44 B757-200Fs that DHL ordered from Boeing going to be based at BRU or are some going to stay in the U.S.?
By the way, do they all come from BA or are some from other sources? What's the story about BA replacing B757-200s? Are they replacing them with newer aircraft or is this just some drastic fleet reduction!!!

P.S. Can anyone give me good sites (unofficial) with photos and info on airports in Belgium and in South Africa.

I'm under the impression that the majority of the DHL B757's are to be based between Brussels and East Midlands in the UK. I know that the vast majority will be ex-BA [of which if not will have been flogged to death on Shuttle and European short-haul flights]. Unfortunately, I'm being vague about numbers because everyone keeps guessing. I would say 34 for sure, if not all 44.

NB in my first post it should read "[of which if not all etc].

The BA B757's have high cycles; thats one reason why they're off. Second reason, BA doesn't want to cater for high volumes of tourist travellers,"back-packers" as they've been called, so they'e opted for the smaller and newer A319.

But on BA's website, they seem to say that they are still expecting some new deliveries of 757s. Are they going to keep those?

Regarding 757s, are there different versions within the -200 model? BA seems to have two kinds of 757-200s with different RR engines. Are there any other differences between them apart from the engines? Is there any way to distinguish them from their names, eg ER, LR etc?

Hkg_clk Some answers!

Haven't seen the BA website but I do find it surprising that it states they're going to get more when they're making concerted efforts to get rid of them! I'll have to look at the web-site when I get a few moments.

Meanwhile, different 200's? Good point. Briefly, as I'm pushed for time! Some are in Shuttle seating configuration, some in European seating configuration. Some B757's were Extended Range B757's and as you note, with slightly different Rolls Royce engines, and internal modifications. The interior modifications were made to enable them to fly longer sectors and with enhanced features for extra passenger comfort. These used to operate in Caledonian colours, (not BCal), from Gatwick, not LHR in years gone by. One example would be G-BPEA.

Some of the BA 757s have more powerful engines (mainly the newer a/c) than the older a/c. 23 of DHL 757s will be based at EMA flying for a new company, DHL uk. They will be used mainly on intra-european routes. These a/c are the ex-BA 757s with less powerful engines.
Regarding the BA 757s again, they are used on UK shuttle routes, European routes and used to be operated from BHX and GLA to New York (JFK).

The other 11 of the initial order will be operated by EAT and based in BRU. The other 10 which will make up the 44 have yet to be officially ordered yet but should be confirmed in June. We also don't know where these 10 a/c are coming from yet.
The new UK operator will be officially named in April. In Flight magazine you'll find it named as DHL Air UK Ltd but it's unofficial at the moment.

The early model 757-236's have the RR RB211-535C which is a 37,000 lb thrust engine. The later ordered 757's with BA have the RB211-535E with up to 41,000 lb thrust. The cowlings are different with the earlier model ones and they appear similar to the L1011 RB211's.

BA Are replacing their 737 fleet with Airbus a320 and a319 aircraft. The 757's are to be replaced with slightly fewer A321's.
Hope that helps.

CHRISBA777ER, are you sure that BA will receive A321s?
I haven't heard once about this and since the B757s are leaving why aren't the A321s arriving yet, let alone ordered?

The A321s will be used by GB Airways in BA colours. Mainly operating out of LGW. I believe the first one has arrived and is being used on the Tenerife run.

Question: I thought BA were going to retain some B757's for mainline routes? As some were to remain? I was under the impression that the A321's were for Gib-Airways only?

Sqman
I am currently getting geared up for the 757s coming through EMA. 1st one has arrived and is operating out of BRU. The 2nd one will also operate out of BRU and should arrive in May. The 1st a/c based at EMA will arrive in June followed by the others at 1 a month, so i believe.
I'm just waiting now for the new GSE for the 757 belly ULDs, probably FMC CTL8s so that i can instruct my staff. The new ULDs "DYH" type are also funny little things so we need new dollies to transport them!
Also we hope to get another DC10 doing an EMA/CVG so that the other can be dedicated to an EMA/JFK flt. I'm sure we can put HKG frt on our CVG to connect! We'd heard a rumour that Atlas Air were being considered for the HKG?
So Sqman get in touch, i prefer to divulge info thro internal e-mail than on the internet.
So waht's happening across the pond??
