PRIME will have suites, how can BA not have them. BA's First has been with us since 1996, a great product then bt

I had a burst of BA F flights this last July/August and asked the purser each time what they knew about the new product. Two of them mentioned that they *think* that it should be announced in March or April.
One Purser, who had many years of service with BA, and he is probably the best purser I've had on BA, told me that the "new cabin is revolutionary not evolutionary." (granted I remember reading in another thread a while ago someone contradicting this)
I do know that BA has been actively working on the cabin because they have been in discussion with some of their most loyal customers about what they want and dont want in the cabin/seat, and they have produced sketch's and such that I guess look "amazing."
the purser told me he knew this because he has talked to some of the passengers that have had the privilege to work with BA on what they want with the new cabin and they said after seeing BA vision to "forget SIA's suites, this will be better."
I'll be flying them again in July and September this year and Im hoping that there will be a few birds flying with the new product so I can try them out!!!
I hope that helped. Do realise I have no hard facts other then what I wrote in my notebook when I talked to the cabin crew

Perhaps July and September 2010 if the product is going on the 773s!!!!
The question of whether to retro fit it to 747-400s remains outstanding I believe and if the economy doesnt turn around quickly I wouldnt bet on Wille splashing out unnecessarily

Why wouldn't they refit the744 ? The A380, 787 and 773 are 4 to 6 years away in large numbers, not all the 744 need to be refitted but many, 20 maybe, were delivered after 1997. Many 744 at BA have 10 years left in them, some delivered in 1989, 90, 91 are being retired but that right now; that has onle been a handful. Retirement may also depend on the fuel prices, right now a paid off 744 is a nice position to be in, Cathay seems to be in that school.

I was at a BA function back in May last year, when someone high up in customer service said the new seat had been selected and was then in testing. So I doubt there is much longer to wait for the release and roll out.
They had d@mn well better be suites...on the B74s I would really rather sit upstairs in Club than in F - and have refused upgrades in the past to prove that...

SQ's suites are only on their A380s right? IS this because of the amount of space they take up? If so, if BA are going to copy/improve, how many will they be able to fit into a hi-J 744, or a 777, without cannibalising total seat count?

"Singapore Suites Class" is only on their A380-841s, but their First Class product on their 777-300ERs and 747-400s would be considered "suites" since they are enclosed (just not with tall walls).
Quoting Timboflier215 (Reply 9): IS this because of the amount of space they take up?
I expect you could fit the "Singapore Suites Class" product on their 777-300ERs in the same 1+2+1 configuration, but I don't mind the suites on the 777-300ER since they are very wide and comfy. Neither would really fit in the nose of the 747 (at least in any appreciable number).

I wouldn't expect great things from the new BA First seat to be honest. The 747 can comfortably seat 14 as it is, and with the exception of the current economic climate, can easily fill it on their more popular routes. Why reduce capacity if you can sell it out, unless you choose to hike fares dramatically? Anything that would knock spots off SQ Suites would reduce the number of seats in the nose of the 747 a fair amount.
I think the best 'we' can hope for is something akin to the new CX F seat. That's be

Usually that phrase is used the other way round, and was used to describe the new version of Club World when that came round in 2006.

Keep dreaming! The seat hasn't even been released yet and there are no imminent plans. In the case of Club World it took months for more than one aircraft to be out flying about.

The reason given was simply cost. The aircraft will eventually leave the fleet and the discussion was around adding the new F product to new aircraft deliveries only. I think WW was well aware of how long the 747s would be around for but still the decision remained.
Remember F is only the third most profitable cabin.

really, I thought it was a close second after Club World? Whats the second most profitable, WTP?

I was also under the impression that they weren't retro-fitting the 747's and only adding to new aircraft. Do you think this would include the 777's that they're getting in 2009?

Quoting Jetsetjon (Reply 15): yes WTP is the 2nd most profitable cabin for BA and its likely to stay that way in the current economic climate
I suppose it makes sense with no more than 40 seats in the cabin. I hope they make some significant improvements to it when they release the newly designed WTP. Obviously they dont want to make it too good as some people may buy WTP instead of justifying the extra expense for CW

Ba are looking at the service more than the physical seat its self as far as i know. So far they have introduced new pillows , head rest covers, new headphones and hot towels.
You are right about club ect not wanting people to down grade .

They have been trialling a number of the 'soft' aspects of the new product for a while now - but hard product changes are expected at some point - to counter the loss of W traffic to Virgin which now has a much better Premium Economy Seat
