Under the pressure of getting their financial situation balanced the new OS management team Andreas Bierwirth and Peter Malanik, successors of Alfred Ötsch, have started a cut back in flight frequencies and also destinations.

Right now domestic flights from KLU, GRZ, LNZ and SZG to VIE are reduced by some frequencies during daytime or on weekends, but also European flights are either cut back in frequency (like INN-FRA) or even cancelled (like VIE-NUE). Some destinations which should have started by summer schedule (like VIE-ALP) will be postponed to a later date.

For sure we will see more reductions in the next days and weeks.

OS is in need to save more than 200 Million EUR over the next months. Bierwirth recently told the employees of OS that there is actually no choice left - either saving or OS will "drive against the wall" meaning has to declare bankruptcy before the takeover deal with LH is getting into the next steps.

News coverage in Austrian (online) papers do show almost daily OS in their breaking news. With the cutback in the number of flights the airport operators, namely KLU and GRZ airport and the local goverments do sharply critizes the OS management. On the other hand none of the involved, be it airport operators or local communities have ever done anything to support OS/VO (like they do e.g. with FR).

The situation is critical with OS group but there are good chances with the new management team that the red figures will get darker to a more black color....
