Weather service reporting a probably tornado crossing just north of DFW airport this evening between 2115 and 2130 local.
Flightaware looks like several inbound aircraft in holding patterns of being moved around behind the heavy squall line crossing through the Dallas area.

Departures were stopped for 31 minutes.
Arrivals were stopped for about 50-55 minutes - aircraft are pulling out of their holding patterns and are inbound for landing now.
The storm gust front is about 30-40 miles east of DFW now.

The line is oriented N-S and is on the east side of the area. If you're coming out of IAH, you'll probably get routed over AUS and come into the DAL area from the SW side.
The line is moving pretty quickly, and only dropped 1/4" hail at my place (NE of DFW, NW of DAL) and about 20-30 minutes of heavy rain.

That's not to say that there won't be any ATC delays. I'm sure there were some diversions at both DFW and DAL, so those diverted flights still have to get going. You may see some delays but I wouldn't expect anything more than 20-30 minutes.

Some flights inbound to DAL were lengthy routing south of San Antonio from ABQ, LBB, ELP, OKC before turning a corner ahead of the line.
Some outbound flights for OKC & LBB also went out southerly to San Antonio before turning north or west.
So far damage reports are pretty light - tornados may not have actually touched down - but if your roof was partially blown off as some were in Colleyville - it is scary.

Okay - it appears landings at DAL have not resumed yet. There was apparently only one takeoff in the past hour.
The FAA is reporting 1 hour to 1 hour 15 min delays at DAL.
Here's one which left Hobby a little while ago headed southwest to get behind the storms

I believe we got a few Eagle flights in to KSHV currently and the last time I checked flightaware, there were a few DFW bound MD-80's from the east coast in a holding pattern over this area. Not sure if they are still holding or have landed. Usually, KSHV turns into a AA Hub when DFW plays ball with Mother Nature.

Looks like anything leaving Houston or other airports ahead of the squall line is heading south or north to cross the gust front at a weak point - but climbing to FL350 or higher.
There is an ATN DC-8 out if IAH bound for DFW down near Corpus climbing through FL300 but starting to turn north.
The line of rotation / tornado type activity is about 60 nm east of DAL, but runs over 150 nm north to south.
Hopefully it will fall apart before reaching the ArkLaTex area in two to four hours.

Saw a FedEx 722 climbing to get over the buildup northwest of the DFW area. This was prolly and hour, hour and a half ago and he was inbound to ABQ. He was at 41,000 and still climbing. It was my understanding that the tops of some of the storms were 45-50,000 range.
Impressive.
Just hope we don't have any injuries in N.Texas. I heard there's 3 fatal in OK.
