What do you think was or is the world's greatest airline.
(feel free to tell us why also)

My choice: TWA (the name says it all)

I was going to think Pan American World Airways but I am kinda biased since TWA is originally from Western Air Express, and for obviously reason, that I am choosing TWA over Pan American World Airways.  Smile/happy/getting dizzy

Pan American.
Reasons...Juan Trippe, The Clippers, The first Boeings 707s & 747s, The Pacific routes, & that great logo.
In my opinion, Pan Am just was an all-around classy airline. Regards.

Mr. 717---How do you know they are on-time 90% of the time?? I'm not aware of any statistics published for this airline. If they really had 90% on-time performance, wouldn't they voluntarily report it to the DOT, like Aloha does? Or did you happen to just see that the flight you booked was ranked as 90% on-time in the CRS?

I'd say SAS. Maybe because I'm from Scandianvia but also because it shows that small coutries can work together and form a major airline Smile/happy/getting dizzy.

I also think TWA is the worlds greatest airline. They probably have the longest list of aviation firsts. I fly TWA regularly and enjoy there wonderful service and beautiful aircraft. Its ashame I wont be for too much longer. We must remember this is probably the best thing that has happened to TWA and its employees in a very long time.

Pan Am.

I have a love for the airliners of the Golden Era; no, not the 707 or 747 but the Stratocruiser and Lockheed Constellation.

I realize that the Constellation was designed for TWA and indeed they had them in service, but nothing beats the combination of Clippers such as Clipper Golden Gate, Clipper Flying Cloud, Clipper Sovereign of the Skies (OK, bad example) and all the Connies to boot.

After all, they were (and, ideally, still would be) 'The Chosen Instrument'.

Certinly not American!!!!!!!! Why I hate them:

They harass and terrorize other Airlines. Airlines they killed are:

Legend
Sunjet

and probaly more. They have the RUDEST employees and some of their planes suck. I have had some good flights with them, but I am loyal to United along with others and they are certinly my first priority!!!

From the airlines I;ve flown I would have to say TWA all the way . Too bad they will disappear soon but they are the best in the air.
The best C/S must go to Saudi Araibian Airlines.

How about Aeroflot -

Huge number of aircraft
Great network
Planes like TU-144, TU-114 were both a part of its fleet.
