Found this article about 10 min ago and thought i might share it with you all.
Virgin Blue boss Brett Godfrey says discount fares could be grounded in a tough economy
I guess we all knew it was coming. Hey let's face it we have had too good for too long. Fortunately i will not be around in SYD much longer as i am due to go back home to Greece within 1 year or so, hopefully low fares will still be around. Your thoughts??.

Hi 1821... the article doesn't actually say if he means domestic fares on Virgin Blue, or international fares on V Australia (NOT Virgin Aust., please note. We can't go around upsetting SQ now, can we? ) . In any case, it doesn't matter. Fare levels will be dictated by the competition, and Brett Godfrey will do whatever it takes to keep bums on HIS seats.
I'm not worried, except that Virgin Blue may try cramming in more seats into the planes - or the rear-most sections at least, reducing comfort for those paying the lowest fares.
