For those of you in the PHX area...look for a Kalitta Air 747-200 arrriving tomorrow morning and departing early afternoon.

Also, look for President Obama to arrive on AF1 sometime in the A.M.

Does anyone have a more exact time for when AF1 is going to arrive? Would like to head down and see if I can get a few pictures.

Dang it! I was on the way to Sky Harbor at about 4.30 expecting a 5.15 arrival and it landed early - I wasn't able to get there in time. Hopeful;y I'll see it leaving tomorrow.

Anybody catch the C-17 landing? I saw it parked over by the western Air Cargo area.

I went to PHX today to see him leave. Firstly I went to the cell phone lot, place was crawling with cops who weren't very helpful to someone wanting to snap some pics. So I went to the north side (nr the Left Seat Cafe) and got this one on my video camera:

Big version: Width: 1152 Height: 864 File size: 345kb

That looks like it landed from the East - yes??? It should have flown over my house, unless it came in closer to the airport (they sometimes do that). I was hoping to get some pics and...nada.

BTW, I posted about a plane I saw and heard Monday night. It was big but it also made a loud whining noise, unusual for this area. It was suggested it might have been a C-5A. I know it wasn't a C-17 - not big enough and not noisy enough. Flightaware showed no matching landings for the time - about 9:00PM Monday.

So did anyone see a C-5 at KPHX the past few days?

I heard a "buzzsaw" overhead about 3:30 yesterday, but by the time I saw it I couldn't see if it was a C-17 or C-5, too high and far. I did not catch the one at 9PM.

I'm not great on military planes but there was a big plane (possible C-5) parked up just south of the west cell phone lot - about where that 747 has been parked recently. It carries the Prez's limo.

Thank you for the extra info. I know they send in a plane before hand so they are ready for the prez where ever he goes, but at that time I thought he was arriving Wednesday, not Tuesday. So I wasn't expecting his supply planes to land Monday night. However, he did arrive Tuesday, so it makes sense his supply planes arrived Monday.

I'm almost certain now that it was a C-5. I just wish I had confirmation.

A C-17 arrived Wednesday afternoon - it flew over the house. Completely different sound, but I have to wonder - why the C-17 after the pres was already here? Coincidence?

BTW, nice shot of AF1, especially for a cell phone.

Yeah it was from the east, looked like it was vectored in like any other BUNTR / EAGUL arrival.

There was a C-5 parked at West Cargo yesterday.

Did anyone see the 747 that took off about an hour before AF1 left? I got a look directly up at it, while I was driving, so I couldn't tell who's it was, maybe a Kalitta bird? Looked like it came off of 7L.
