Service to start in June. No flight schedule released yet but probably 2x daily. The second article says they will need 88 pax per day to break even...just don't see that happening. MWH wasn't able to sustain numbers like that even when QX flew in there. When Big Sky was there they only had about 15 per day and that slowly decreased as they pulled out. Once the EAS ran out, this market just can't be served profitably by a larger prop plane.

Though they did get over $500,000 in pledges from local businesses. We'll see if it lasts.

Yes it will. Sounds nice and all, but QX flew the route too with connections to AS, NW, and others not even 10 years ago and it didn't work then. Now with UA pulling back on a lot of SEA service and travel in decline, I don't see how it will work now.

The article states it will be for UA.

With 2X daily and probably reduced to once per day on weekends, how are they going to achieve 88 pax per day, assuming they are using 30-pax Brasilias??? The last I checked 2X daily = 60 pax per day on weekdays.

I think they mean passengers boarded. So 2x daily is 4 one ways which would be 22 per flight.

I think the writer of the article doesn't know what break-even really is, 22 people each way is too high, I suspect something more around 15.

Yeah it may be one of those cases where things go well for a year while they get the subsidy and everyone is excited about service, then numbers drop off after the novelty is gone again.

Hopefully the route will work. I personally think that OO as United Express does have an opportunity with Horizon ending Q200 service. Being the only express operator with 30 seat planes might help them cut their way into small markets that Horizon does not serve.

They did bid for PDT as EAS, they just didn't win it. Just for the record here, UAX is not the one pulling the strings here, it is all at risk OO flying.
