Hey guy's, if you don't know already, Mainline DL is back at MDW. MD-90's and 2 757's.. But I have noticed that the 757's are being handled by NW. Is there any reason for this? Why not have OH do it. But it is good to see mainline back..
Now is the MD-90 longer then the MD-80? I know that the engines are not the same, and the look of the A/C is the same...

DL is not flying 757s to MDW. There are currently two daily MD-90s for mainline DL scheduled into MDW.

He just said the 757's are being handled by Northwest Airlines, which is the truth. Didn't state they were 757 DL Metal.

I think most people would assume the below quote (along with the thread title) to mean that the 757's were DL metal.

While DL mainline is at MDW in the form of the M90, the 757 is NW mainline (which is separate for the time being). NW mainline also brings the 319 and 320 to MDW from MSP, and soon the D9S will return to DTW service (which is otherwise all CR9).

As noted, these are handled by NW because they are NW birds on NW flights.

NW is mainline above and below. DL is OH above and, IIRC, below as well.

Perhaps because it'll be a mainline station once the merger is complete?

If so, this is good news for NW. The plan, according to SVP Crystal Knotek is to have NW Mainline take over above & below wing ops in any city where it's Mainline NW and Comair for DL. This would include MSN, FNT, GRR, MDW and a couple others I may have forgotten. If this is in fact happening, it's the first one of the bunch to do so.

Correct.

There have been 757s on the route on and off for the past 5 or more years; it hasn't lined up with FL or TZ as well as you think...

It's nice to see a DL 757 at MDW, even if it is "technically" NW.
I look forward to the day when we don't get all defensive about NW flights in DL colors being NW flights. It's time to get used to the idea, it's coming to pass in the near future. Let's get on board the wavy gravy train. I don't remember this much drama when US and HP did their thing.

Speaking about said person...I haven't noticed him posting much lately. By the way, the banter between you two never gets old. As an XJ employee, who has a father who is now DL/ex NW, I really don't hear the same stuff from my dad that Burnsie28 is constantly complaining about. The only complaint I have heard is that HR wasn't very helpful answering questions about the latest buyout that was offered.

Any landing you can walk away from is a good landing! It's a bonus if you can fly the plane again!!
OH as not had a CVG since I quite there, and that was 4 years ago, But it would be nice to have a CVG flight once again at MDW.. And thanks for all your help guys...

ATA used to use the 757-300s regularly out of Midway...There is enuff thust to get those planes outta there with no problem.
However, ther have been a couple bigger planes in Midway in the past.....Back in I believe 1972 or so, United actually brought a DC8-61 into Midway for some sort of Airshow thingy....Also Airbus brought their A300 into and out of Midway for Demo flights back in or around 1974/75......Both of those tidbits are from an old airliner enthusiast magazine that I have a copy of....I cant recall the name of the magazine tho....It might have been called AIRLINERS but is in no way related to the current AIRLINERS Magazine out of Florida.
