Im heading to LA in a few days, and I want to get some pictures. I'm flying southwest. Where at that airport are there good locations to take pictures and spot planes? Thanks and detailed directions would be greatly appreciated!!!

Go to the hill on Imperial Ave. It's south of the airport off Imperial Hwy. Best thing to do is head west on the highway, turn left on Main St., then immediate left onto Imperial Ave. Go up the hill where you'll see benches facing the airport. This view covers the whole southern part of the airfield. Bring field glasses & a scanner. It's one of my favorite spots. Regards.

You can also try the north side, which is right off Lincoln Blvd. Traveling north on Lincoln, you'd take the first exit (I believe Westchester Way), and go left at the light. You can see the runway on the left hand side very well. The planes are very much in view, especially when landing. The only downfall is the fense. Take a foot ladder, and you will get great shots of jumbos coming in. Lots of people go there to take shots.

There is a hill right on the northwest side of the airport which is a great vantage point to watch the many heavies launch. From the imperial spot on the south side continue west down Imperial take your first right at light then quick left (going west toward ocean) to the first light turn right. Follow this road down about 3/4 of a mile (you will be driving along the western side of LAX )and there will be a road that takes you to the bluff above the airport and ocean turn left can't miss if you go into Playa Del Rey you missed it. Have fun
