SV purchased 22 A320 and will lease an additional 28 CFM56-5B-powered A320 aircraft. The airline is scheduled to receive its first airplane the third quarter of 2009, with deliveries continuing through late 2012. The order for A320 was originally announced at the 2008 Farnborough Air Show.

Finally SV is getting an Aircraft which suits them. A320s will replace their incompetent MD-90’s and will also relieve some of B777 which are used on thin European routes. B777 were used on the thin routes as they don’t have suitable smaller aircraft and their MD-90 does not have the legs to do the European and other such routes.

Thales and ACSS (an L-3 Communications and Thales joint venture company) announced (20-Feb-09) that Saudi Arabian Airlines has selected a significant number of Thales equipment including the T3CAS for installation on its recent order of Airbus A320 jets.

Saudi Arabian Airlines signed (19-Feb-09) the final agreement to formalise the airline’s order for CFM56-5B engines to power 22 new Airbus A320 family aircraft.
The airline, which is also leasing CFM56-5B-powered A320s, is scheduled to begin taking delivery of the new aircraft later this year.

SV signs 10-year materials agreement with GE Aviation

Saudi Arabian Airlines signed (19-Feb-09) an exclusive 10-year materials agreement with GE Aviation Services for the airline’s entire fleet of 100 purchased and leased CFM56-5B* engines powering its Airbus A320 fleet.
Under the terms of the agreement, which is valued at approximately USD300 million, Saudi Arabian Airlines will exclusively use genuine CFM parts in the maintenance and overhaul of this fleet.
