I received news at about 1200Z today, that a Lion Air MD90 made a prepared emergency landing at Batam Airport (BTH/WIDD) after its nosegear failed to extend.

I immediately checked for the NOTAMs and found:

Oops... made a few calls and it was confirmed...  Sad

Emergency crews foamed the runway and the landing went without any further mishaps, no serious injuries... phew... Aircraft was PK-LIO.

This is the umpteenth time Lion has had mishaps in recent times, in particular to its MD fleet.

Found pics of the accident taken by witnesses:

*sigh* More scheduling screwups tomorrow I guess...

Good job by the Pilot or who ever was in command. Looks like they had to circle around for quite a while to loose some fuel as the first photos are taken during the day and the others of the plane on the ground taken during the night (early evening).

Ground crews seemed pretty prepared for the emergency! Lots of ambulance personel with stretches etc. Great pics and link, thanks for sharing!

Eeeek. Could have been very nasty. All kudos to those who saved the day.

I found a claim that 2 pax were injured, though I'm not sure about the quality of the source: http://forum.channelnewsasia.com/vie...d=22c2266aaf871002b65a1aacfa2a0dea

2 are injured. News says it's not critical... "minor concussion"... hope it's true...
