It appears that AI's ORD flights will be switched back to 744 service instead of 77W effective March 29th. Can any of our AI experts tell me the status of the cabin refurbishments on the 744 fleet? Also, our partner office in BKK refuses to book any more pax on the ORD route, claiming that it could be canceled at any time. Any truth to that?

As I mentioned in the another thread, I am pretty sure AI has currently refurbished only one 744 (VT-EVA), known as "Agra". This refurbishment occured in Jun 07. Since then, no 744's have been refurbished despite AI saying that all of them would be. However, I do believe that all of them have been repainted into the new livery. I hope I'm wrong but it seems they have shelved their plans to refurbish the 744's with a new cabin.

I was under the impression that ORD was doing quite well for AI. Since they are upgrading capacity (not product), I would say that the route is performing well. Plus, I doubt they would load the flight into the GDS for the summer season if they thought the route was going to be dropped. But then again, we are dealing with AI and they tend to make very strange decisions.

Such a shame that they have only upgraded one of the 744, are there any plans for upgrades, refits to any of the IC aircraft or any of the AI fleet for that matter. What upgrades did take place on the 744 is is not similar to the 777, is it predominantly used on any route?
I am not remotly familiar with Indian aviation, but how is the merger progressing is there a streamling of products? Their site is still seperate with the IC one being rather basic. I hope to see them in Melbourne one day!
