The deal has been signed directly with Bombardier.

First one will arrive this week and will be based in GDL, one of two hubs for Mexicana´s new regional: MexicanaInter, the other hub will be MTY, thus taking AeroMexico Connect head on.

50 seats, all one-class will be the configuration and the first 13 will be second hand. The two options might get to be brand new.

MexicanaInter will be presented to the press on March 10, in GDL.

Mexicana's CEO sure is making the rounds. He's getting A330s and talks about replacing it with A350s, then he gets CRJs and talks about replacing them with the C-Series. Then he gets going on possible European and Asian routes.

Finally some aggresive thinking from a Mexicana CEO, it only took 80+ years.

For some reason I thought bombardier had the intent of discontinuing the 200 in the near future. Anyone have better info?

Those CRJs are not new. A Mexican airline named ALMA operated those RJs. Their business model was a bit like Air Independence, and just like air Independence, their business model failed. MX is taking those RJs for its regional subsidary.

We know they are not new. There is a non-disclosure clausule in the MX-Bombardier contract so MX cannot say where are they coming from.

Some have to be ex-Alma's, but not all, it is not possible. At least one ex-Alma is impounded. It is at QRO, Queretaro City, impounded by the Queretaro State Government, as they own their international airport and Alma still has an important debt there. I just saw it on Saturday.

If you look at this article: http://www.flightglobal.com/articles...ional-carrier-with-13-crj200s.html and scroll down to just above the picture of the CRJ200 you'll see a statement by BBD that they are not a party to this transaction.
