MexicanaClick(QA) Goes Two-Class, TGZ Gets It 1st!

The 25 B717s that MexicanaClick will be leasing from Boeing Capital to replace its 25 F100s will come in a 24 Elite 80 Coach configuration as opossed to the F100s one-class cabin.

AeroMexico and its subsidiaries have made a very strong and surprising move into Mexicana's turf: DEN, YYZ, YUL, EZE, NLD, HUX, SLP, CTM, Colombia, TAM, TGZ and SFO.

Mexicana has gotten back with GRU and MAD, and further more, MexicanaInter's new hubs at GDL and MTY taking AM and AeroMexico Connect head on.

And now, just to add some more excitement, MexicanaClick will start replacing its F100s with B717s on April 1st, introducing Mexicana's Elite Class in its own metal. Where to first? TGZ! MEX/TLC-TGZ is one of the countries most important "air-bridges" with many daily frequencies by MexicanaClick, Aviacsa, Interjet and now for the 1st time in history: AeroMexico.

What's the question? Why isn't there any business class so far in this very important route? MexicanaClick will hit it first with their first B717, Business Class equipped, on its first revenue flight with MX.

What's the next question? Will TGZ be served with AM mainline (Premier Class) or AM Connect (no business class)?

Mayavia, thanks for the note and for posting a link to the article. Interesting move, though.

I wonder... Doesn't Elite Class seats/service in QA defeat the whole purpose and business model of this airline? (especially if they will be flying routes of 1:30 hrs block time or less, for the most part?)

What do our fellow a.nutters here think?

That's exactly what I wanted to ask. If Click is going to have MX's elite class then why don't we just get rid of click and fly Mexicana's own metal. Just speculating big time here but, would Click be deleted from the map and just be Mexicana alone? There's no click webpage now and Click only flies to destination MX's doesn't do ( not being strict with this statement).

It's all very weird concerning QA but it must be working tons to MX ( which I'm happy about)

Cheers!

I don't think so Adriaticus. I fly constantly within the USA on flights that are shorter than
2 hrs. or 1 1/2 hrs. and all have Business Class and all are full. As an example DCA-ORD,
DCA-BOS, ORD-STL and I can go on.

I think this is a smart move for Mexicana as there is definitely a need and as a regular
Business traveler myself, I always choose Business Class for obvious reasons one being that
I get on aircraft first, I get off aircraft first and on some flights depending on time of day I even
get something to eat and there is free wine.

I am certain that Mexican Business people would want the same.

We all have followed Mexicana closely lately and from their business model I believe they know
what they are doing and their decision to put Elite Class on their B717s is a good one.

Do you agree??

My thoughts:

I don't want to appear bitter, but apparently the whole "LCC" concept, has turned out to be a scam for airline employees. Most LCCs have turned into "mainline" carriers slowly (or are dead), because that's what the flying public wants (frequencies, business class, frequent flyer program, flying from MEX). I can picture some high level meetings in which management asked some employees to go the extra mile and take part in a leaner, simpler, cheaper effort (Click, Connect, you name it), but at the the end of the day they will have to provide the same level of service for less money:

LCC = mainline - employee benefits

It's unfortunate, but at the same time, I'm aware that those are the economic realities worldwide.

So Mexicana (Click) will be offering a premium class on Mexico City-Huatulco and Mexico City-Cozumel once they operate 717s? I think that's great! Will definitely fly on MX on my next trips to Mexico.

Mhj... MX's and QA's employees get the same benefits? Are they under the same terms with unions?
