I flew a night XC between KHWO and KPGD last night and while refueling in KPGD a Virgin America A319 landed. I checked the Virgin website last night when I got home but it doesn't look like they're flying there.. Anyone have an idea what the plane were doing there? And I heard the "getaway" callsign on the radio when I was leaving, could that have been them?

And on a side note.. Since PGD is an uncontrolled airport it could be quite interesting when on approach with the C-152 doing the usual 70 kts and you hear a Airbus behind you doing 130 odd knots.. "Charlotte county traffic, Airbus 319 on final for rwy 04, any traffic in the area get out of the way.."  Wink

Cheers!

This looks like the flight:

My guess is a charter since those are both cities that aren't served by VX.

Edit:
This looks like a golf charter. B6 was doing charters last year for some golfing group with the same airport pairing of IAG and MYR.

I'm probably showing my ignorance here re: such issues, but is that normal for an airport with commercial airline traffic -particularly one with large jet traffic- to be uncontrolled? Sounds pretty unsafe!

I live near Willie ( KIWA ) and Late at night there is no Tower on duty. I believe theres no tower after 8, and a lot of Allegiant flights come in around or after that.. Its pretty normal to hear for example "Willie Traffic, Allegiant 653 7 miles northeast of the airport, inbound 30C. Any traffic please advise."

That would be USA3000 Airlines.
