Which Is The Next Airline To Be Taken Over?

I was wondering, which airline is next to be taken over by a big company like AF-KL, AA, DL or LH?

Is any of the big companies eyeing up any companies?

Malev are now in Aeroflot hands (or some sort of associate), what's going to happen there?

Can LH still take over SN, with or without the EU block (which is stupid IMHO). But I reckon they're going to make a fortune from BD alone.

And smaller airlines like LO, OK, SK and EI, are there any big airlines wanting to skoop them up? Aeroflot seem interested in Czech Airlines, SK hasn't found a buyer and neither has LOT, could LH or AF-KL take them over?

Thanks, Sam

Well, CO and UA have been rumored to be merging for years now. The entrance of CO into Star seems to support this but I don't believe it yet. Of course the next shift in the market or oil spike could completely change the landscape in an instant so don't rule anything out.

While this may not be the "best scenario" for UA fans, fliers or employees, I just have a feeling that they will be the one who is split among the legacies. Their LAX hub will be fought over by AA and DL, CO might take their SFO hub, DEN will be left to Frontier and WN, IAD will be another fight probablyl involving all the legacies, ORD- AA will try to grab a chunk (small enough not to attract any anti-competitive watch dogs). While it wouldn't be ideal for it to go out of business, it leave an interesting proposition for airlines, especially given the troble of integrating such a large airline as UA into a (slightly) smaller airline like CO.

How financially stable/ secure are UA compared to the likes of AA, DL and CO?

Popular opinion (A*net) is that UA is in the worst shape of any of the major US airlines.

A CO employee who's a friend of mine told me that some of the higher-ups are less open to a CO-UA merger considering UA's financial state, but I can't substantiate this. Anyone know about this?

This is not any surprise to me. Their quality of onboard service has kept going down even in International First and Business not talking about Economy. Just pathetic!

I am a UA Million Miler and I avoid them nowadays. I don't wish them to go belly up. I just wish they would get rid of Glenn Tilton. I hope they will survive and get better and improve their quality of onboard service. Then I will be happy to go flying with them again.

There was a better way to fly it was called Concorde

I would agree with them. Taking over UA (or any other ailing competitor) would be more trouble than it's worth. Just look at how that worked out for AA. 9/11 or no 9/11 the TWA takeover was not a good idea.
