Like Lufthansa, Air France is looking to gobble up more and more smaller European carriers.
Quote: Air France-KLM eyes CSA, crisis ongoing
NEW YORK — Air France-KLM will launch a tentative bid for Czech Airlines (CSA) within weeks as European carriers regroup in the face of a downturn that so far shows no signs of easing, its chief executive said on Monday.
"We understand the Czech government is interested in finding a buyer for a significant part of (CSA). We don't have a lot of information but we are of course very attentive because CSA is a SkyTeam partner," Air France-KLM CEO Pierre-Henri Gourgeon said.
Asked whether Air France-KLM would submit an official expression of interest for the Czech privatization by a March 23 deadline, he said, "We will express something, yes."

Didn't AF own a large part of the carrier a couple of years ago? I remember something that they (partly) owned OK before, but that they sold it back to the Czech government after (political) trouble.

AF did indeed buy 40% of the airline in 1992 (http://www.flightglobal.com/pdfarchive/view/1992/1992%20-%200056.html).
I don't know the exact details, but most people seem to remember it as the dark days and AF sold its stake back to the Czech government in 1994...
