I got a message from a friend of mine who was flying through BDL the other night saying that NW check in and gates are gone. Re branded DL. Anyone else know of this?

The Northwest ticket counter is gone, and the old Northwest gates (A5 and A7) have had their signage removed, and according to a Delta gate agent I talked to yesterday, they've given up those gates. On Thursday I saw one of the Northwest MSP flights was operating from Gate A9, one of the original Delta gates.

Will they give up gate 11 at PVD? move down to the current DL gates? It is kind of sad seeing those jetways being used to board RJ's only!

If you're talking about rebranding, then of course you're correct...
As far as consolidating facilities goes, the general rule is whatever carrier has the smaller ops in any given city gets folded into the larger carrier's...

The NW ticket counter is closed at ROC and its signage has been removed. There's a big taped-on poster paper sign that says "Northwest merged with Delta," with an arrow pointing to the DL ticket counter. While that isn't yet strictly accurate--still separate certificates, etc.--in practice it's happening. The Northwest branding on gates B1 and B3 at ROC is gone, but as of last week NW is still using those gates.
As I mentioned on the big thread on NW and DL airport facilities, I think ROC will need to do some shuffling on B concourse, where NW and DL both are. The combined carrier will need more gates than either one has alone; I wonder if AA will be moved from B7 to either B1 or B3, and NW take over B7, for a net loss of one gate for cost savings.

All of them. BDL has been outsourced for NWA for awhile now....

...to DL and DGS, right? I'm sure about DGS, but less sure about above the wing.
Quoting IliriBDL (Reply 7): they have two computers that check in for Northwest, while the rest are for Delta.
Do we have a date for a single computer system yet? That probably won't be when they get the SOC; IIRC, HP and US merged (onto SHARES) in March, 2007 and got their SOC in September, 2007.

It went to a 3rd party first (both above & below)... IIRC, it was WorldWide, but don't hold me to it.
The switch to DL/DGS came relatively recently...

I'm honestly a little surprised that it's that few; it seems like they'll release at least one at every station that has both DL and NW, and they will release more like 3 or 4 a lot of places too.

I'd be curious to see the station by station breakdown...
In some cities, I imagine it'd probably be pretty easy to let go of more than 1 or 2, whereas others it'd be impossible.
In my city, simple physics won't allow it, as every gate is full 1st thing in the AM, and the launch flights are too close together to allow for remoting/towing. On top of that, the leases aren't on a "pay per use" structure the way some other cities are.

That is scheduled for January 2010. In there mean time it will be dual application kiosks and toggling between systems on pc's.

In DFW....April 6th is the planned movement of NWA to Delta gates.
Northwest will leave gates 2, 4, 5 & 6 and will operate from Delta's gates 12-16.
E16 (former Airtran and former Delta gate) has already been taken over by Delta....
E11 will also be available for Delta...shared with Alaska.

Jim,
I'm not sure if your familiar with the lower level side of the B concourse in terms of where the operations locations are but Eagle took over AA ops under the B7/B9 bridges after the AA pull out but then moved after a few years to under B5 to cut costs and Delta moved into the old AA ops after their move to the B side. From what I hear Eagle might move back into the old ops under B7/B9 and take the B9 or 10 bridge giving DL/NW B1/3/5/7 and maybe 9. They would keep the NW ops under B3. Hope that makes some sense. I'm not with Eagle anymore but now with jetBlue so I'm getting this info from old co-workers. Its going to be interesting to see what happens.
