Livery changed when their first DC-10 was delivered- think it was 1974. In hindsight, very progressive at the time (and I like the green doors too)!

I believe it was 1973, in conjunction with introduction of their first DC-10-30.

UTA had a very advantgardistic livery, probably the most modern scheme together with CP Air (which is one of my alltime favourites) and Braniff at that time.

Its a cool and modern livery .. but i never understood the ugly green doors. They look very mismatched .. like a green fender on a black car. Or like when u see maintenance put a nose cone on a plane that's from their previous livery.

I like the green doors. They add a splash of color to an otherwise dull color scheme. And on a safety side, you can easily find 'em  Wink

Same here... no matter how I evision the livery with just plain door outlines, it seems a bland scheme rather than the eye-catching livery it is ...without going over the top.

My thinking on a possible reason for the green doors is that it was perhaps the way chosen by UTA to retain the main colors of the airlines that were merged to form the carrier, namely UAT (blue) and TAI (green), in a simplified yet innovative livery that was likely to leave a lasting impression in the minds of those who viewed it.
